Guest guest
Did anyone follow up on this invitation to the Governor, or to the excellent letter Judith wrote him? In light of the Citizens United decision and the huge flow of corporate money into politics, it would be an excellent time to bring up the issue of money flowing from the dairy and food industry into the Government agencies and those above them with the intention of removing every source of competition from small businesses that threaten their monopoly. We need to address the issues at the source of the funding and not keep playing their so called health issues card. No one wants to discuss the money and monopoly issue because it is what is really behind the harassment. I tried talking to a reporter, who walked up to us and started the conversation, and as soon as it turned to the source of the money and the control of the profits and markets, he actually turned away and looked around for something else. I am sure that will never make it into his story. He only wanted to talk about the health issues. It is a complete distraction and is being successfully played out in the national views as well. Look at the silent crackdown that is happening to the occupy food movement largely aimed at Monsanto's monopoly of seeds. Raw milk is the key player in the monopoly of our food system, as they already have the monopoly won and they only need to protect it. Since most dairy farmers don't even break even, the owners of large food companies have successfully created a raw material that they do not have to pay anything for the labor to create it. This is not a minimum wage issue it is a No wage issue. There are billions of dollars at stake here. That is why all the key food industries, along with the dairy industry got to Doyle in WI: Cheese makers, Grocery stores, Pizza makers, even Kwik Trip (if you don't go into the store for milk, you won't buy all the other junk there). At what price do the corporations win everything? You see the result with milk, they are moving in on the rest of the food hoping for the same result. The `health issue' is their tool, they need periodic `outbreaks' like the planted one in Racine, WI to push their fear weapon against Democracy and true Market freedom which would devastate their profits. Who fights the hardest in the capital to influence the legislators? Not Doctors, it's the richly paid dairy and food Industry lobbyist. The vast majority of small dairy farms are now out of business, their market share taken over by industrialized pseudo-milk. We need to get to the real issues before it is too late and our fight over the `health issues' will be moot, as there will be no more non-industrial dairies, or as in WI, it will not even be legal (through regulations) to drink the milk from your own cow/goat/sheep, even if you are lucky enough/rich enough/daring enough to own your own. Don't let them `divide and conquer'! Left and right, Tea-partiers and Occupiers, Farmers and Consumers, Health Advocates on all sides, unite and fight (on any platform you believe in) this buyout of our government and takeover of our food! ~Jan Bella Sol Tierra Bravo!
