Making Sourdough

As a former carb-a-holic trying to eat better and feed my family better,

I've been trying to cut down on our grains and wheat especially. I have

had very little cooperation from my husband-- just can't seem to give up

that bagel for breakfast (although he will put an egg on it now)! (and my 2

year old has figured out that she likes to eat with Daddy because she gets

more bread that way-- are they born carboholics???) so I am taking the

approach of making bread better. Since he does like sourdough (and doesn't

care for any of the sprouted breads we've bought), I'd like to try making

my own.

The problem... I've never made my own bread (other than in a machine 10

years ago) and I know nothing about making sourdough bread. I've searched

the interenet and am a little overwhelmed by all the stuff out there. Does

anyone have a starter they are willing to share/sell (or tell me where to

find a good one) and can anyone point me to a good resource/directions on

what to do? (I wouldn't exactly label myself a good cook, so simple is

good!)

Thanks,

Bethany
