Is the bay iron deficient? I was just reading that babies who have exclusively

breastfed for the first 7 months and were tested at 12 months were found to have

no iron deficiency. The other things I was reading is that babies absorb 50-70%

of iron in breast milk vs. only 15% or less in supplements and foods... Meaning

that even though iron in breastmilk is low, absorption is higher therefore it's

better than supplements and food. Lastly, the iron in breastmilk is bound to

proteins so that it is only accessible to baby and not to feed other organisms.

The iron in supplements and food feed bacteria. I'm referring to babies under

about 12 months. Don't know how old your baby is... I was starting to look into

this because my dr. Suggested iron fortified cereal!!! Hahahahahaha! Lol. Then

the book " nourishing our children " also talked about babies iron reserve running

out at 6 months and needing iron-rich foods. This is old science. So this is

incorrect as well. Even Sally Fallon recommends egg yolk at 4 months and I just

disagree. It's not going to damage a child of course if it's started that

early. I had to do the same research for vitamin D. As long as mom's milk has

vitamin d, then baby is ok. They absorb nutrients in the milk better than other

foods. All that info and you might be talking about a baby older than this. ;)

maybe this will be of help to someone else. ;)

luck with Floradix Iron and Herbs for babies (e.g. 10 month old).
