I am not sure if they were purchased by Monsanto or someone who owned stock or what the rumor was but may be worth checking into. Either way, they do have good seeds and if you are a member you have access to a much larger amount than what is listed on the site or catalogs. seedsavers.org > > This is where I have purchased some of my grains from in the past. http://sustainableseedco.com/ > > This is where I get some poultry and sweet potatoes from: http://www.sandhillpreservation.com/ > > Another grain one I saved: > http://www.saltspringseeds.com/catalog/index.cfm?categoryid=34 > > Last grain one: > http://www.prseeds.ca/catalogue/grain.php?C=Grain > > seedsofchange.com Owned by Mars candy company but they do have good seed. lol! > > Here is a list of who has signed the safe seed pledge: > http://www.councilforresponsiblegenetics.org/ViewPage.aspx?pageId=261 You will have to see who the parent company is of some of these retailers, I don't have time to look them all up. > > How to avoid some Monsanto crap: > > http://www.garden-of-eatin.com/how-to-avoid-monsanto/ > > Last thing about Monsanto/Semenis: > http://www.seedalliance.org/Seed_News/SeminisMonsanto/ > > > Richters is a good place to get Herbs. They are open pollinated so some things need a bit of space to not cross pollinate but it can be done with a little bit of research on how far to distance them, how to save the seed, and how to keep them from cross pollinating. It is worth it tho, I have many different types that I have saved over the years. > > And heirlooms are yummy!! > > Oh--trees and such: Treesofantiquity.com They have them divided up into zones as well as a bit of history. > > Have fun! > > >
Guest guest
Thank you for this list. I just looked at the Bakers list and will probably choose them. So much better than the Burpee seeds I typically buy! I'm proud to be making a choice with my dollars and I appreciate your providing a list for those of us who hadn't even thought to worry about our seed source! e On Tue, Jan 31, 2012 at 11:18 AM, cjchubiz <cchubiz@...> wrote: > ** > > > , > > Do you sell your vegetables or provide a CSA? > > Thanks. > > > > > > > First, here is a list of seed companies owned/supplied by Semenis which > is owned by Monsanto. Guest guest
Hi, Probably not this year or very limited if I do at all. I am going to be delivering CSA's for the Amish who just moved up here from Missouri this summer. Will have a garden and will be saving seeds, I might do one farmers market but most of the energy is going to be put into storing food for the family. No place to put in a huge garden that is convenient yet. Working on that problem tho! But in a couple of weeks seeds will be started--spring is coming! The tunnels will be going up and if worse comes to worse, I will have to sell a lot of the plants I would normally put in my garden. But those seeds can be saved for the next generation as well! > > , > > Do you sell your vegetables or provide a CSA? > > Thanks. > > >
