Guest guest
Dear Real Foodies~  With all the talk of balancing the budget, building a new stadium and redistricting, you'd think our local government would have enough on their plates. Apparently not so as the agenda against our farmers continues complete with demands to cease the delivery of wholesome foods and threats of exorbitant fines and even jail time. If there ever was a time to tell our state representatives what you think, the time is now!  As an extension of last springs unlawful seizure of Alvin Schlangen’s food truck and $5000 worth of food, the MDA has summoned Alvin to appear in court over three days beginning May 14. We need YOU to come out and show your support of Alvin and your disgust at the overreach and wasteful spending of our state agencies.  More info will come later but think the Hershberger trial with a Mn twist complete with signs and peaceful rallying.  Just as in Baraboo, the rally and court dates will be preceded by a Know Your Rights workshop with the Raw Milk Freedom Riders and dinner the day prior on Sunday May 13 from 2-5pm. What better way to celebrate Mother's Day than by coming together as a community family, educating ourselves about our Constitutional Rights and then sharing in a nutritious dinner.  We will truly be a force with which to be reckoned as we congregate, support one another and gather strength.  More details will follow in the coming days but for now, mark these TWO dates on your calendars:  Sunday, May 13, 2-5pm Know Your Rights Workshop and Dinner Lauderdale City Hall AND Monday, May 14, 7am 1000 for Alvin Schlangen  Hennepin County Government Center  The Milk Freedom Riders were able to assemble several hundred for the Hershberger rally, let's try to double that for Alvin! If you've been enjoying food from Alvin or any other of our farmers, you have a personal stake in this.  Of course as with any other function we need volunteers to help make this a success. Here is a preliminary list of tasks (with more to follow):  *Housing and transportation for out of town guests *Set up and clean up for workshop and dinner *Food prep and service *Food donations for dinner *Sign making for rally *Social media and coverage for rally *Video coverage of event  Please contact Mel Olsen (612-327-8855 or mellomom324@...), Deanna  (612-869-2874 or deanna.miller99@...) or myself if you wish to contribute or volunteer. More information will be posted here as well as on the Milk Freedom Riders Website http://rawmilkfreedomriders.wordpress.com/  As always, thanks for your dedication and support,  Susie Zahratka  (651-329-8401 or szahratka@...)
