Guest guest
Does anybody have any solutions for getting rid of ants that are in my kitchen? I've had them for a few years now. I've tried spraying peppermint essential oil mixed with water, which I read somewhere to use. That only kills the ones that I actually spray with it. The next ones seem to be able to just walk over it, once it's dried. I kill those that I see when I'm in the kitchen. I'm just not in the kitchen all the time, and they're getting more and more abundant each year. Does anyone have any non-toxic remedies for this? It's already starting for this year, and I don't know how much longer I can stand it. I have 6 cats and a dog and I prefer not to use poisons in my house. HELP ME, PLEASE! Anyone! Guest guest
For some reason I think I was told that crushed up egg shells work to rid ants of the house. For outside of the house, plant marigolds and cosmos to repel them. Mint family works to some degree on mice. May have to poison them once inside tho, you do have to kill the colony. Also, try to find out what type they are. Sugar ants can be gotten rid of by not having sweet stuff out. Grease ants are harder since they seem to like everything you cook. Wood eaters are terrible and you may as well move! lol Anyway, find out who your enemy is so you can attack properly. Wiping down with bleach or ammonia does work but you may not like that in your house. Not sure if strong vinegar or komboucha would work but may be worth a try? Borax works with a lot of pests. > > Does anybody have any solutions for getting rid of ants that are in my > kitchen? I've had them for a few years now. Guest guest
If you know where they are coming in, draw a chalk line there. They will not cross it. It really works, I've done it before. Guest guest
I used Borax and it worked great. I have a toddler and 2 cats so I didn't want to just put it out on the counter. I put it in a can and poked holes in the lid. After a couple of days, they were gone and have not returned. > > Does anybody have any solutions for getting rid of ants that are in my > kitchen? Guest guest
> I don't know if this solution has been pored yet but I mix 2 TB molasses with 1 Tb of white sugar and 1 Tb of yeast. The ants eat it and I think when they eat the yeast it expands in their bodies. It's worked for us 2/3 times. Susie >
