Here is my whole recipe instructions for the fake stuffed cabbage, my Russian

SIL calls this Lazy Pigeons (real stuffed cabbage looks like little pigeons).

This was a HUGE hit with my whole extended family, even the ones with the

pickiest palates:

You kind of expand everything to make the batch bigger:

bacon, for grease for flavoring, if you want, otherwise use olive oil

ground beef - 1 1/2 lb

onion - large

Lebanese spice mix - 1 1/2 tsp, or more (see below)

garlic - to taste, clove or two, or half tsp powder

small head cabbage, chopped

can tomatoes

small can tomato sauce

1/4 cup golden raisins, if you like them, or else a touch of sugar

few TBSP Apple Cider Vinegar

juice from half lemon

Worcestershire sauce, 1 tsp, or to taste

Beef broth to loosen it up, probably a cup or two

few dashes Tabasco sauce, to taste

Can add a cup of rice, to stretch it, if you are not watching carbs -

if you do, you would need more broth, and may want to increase

seasoning, at least salt

Brown ground beef, onions, Lebanese spice mix, garlic or garlic powder, salt

Add chopped cabbage, let it brown a little, then add rest of ingredients

Bring to boil, turn down and simmer for at least 30 mn, then start

tasting, adjust seasoning.

Lebanese Mixed Spices

Ingredients:

* Allspice

* Black pepper

* Cinnamon

* Cloves

* Nutmeg

* Fenugreek

* Ginger

Buy the ingredients in powder form (or make into powder using pestel

and mortar). Mix together equal quantities of all the above. Once

complete, keep in a sealed jar or container and it will last for at

least six months.
