Pat's Tap Restaurant Review sort of

My girlfriend who knows how much I love meats, and especially organs took me out

to this place last night. She's been asking me to go for a while and couldn't

make time, finally worked last night and it was amazing. We sat out on the

patio, which is dog friendly and a great atmosphere, nearby roadwork included.

I let her do the ordering since I assumed everything would be good, I wasn't

disappointed!

She ordered the Charcuterie, a cheeseburger (thousand hills) and the Brie and

bleu cheese plate.

The charcuterie was phenomenal. I can't even recall what all was on there but it

wasn't what was listed on the menu, other than missing out on rillette, that

wasn't a problem. They had mousse, head cheese, pate, some fig thing (our

waitress was clueless (and proud of it!!)) that reminded me of pulled pork,

though it wasn't...I think, but delicious none the less. It also included two

forms of lard, both delicious, one like a soft brie in taste and texture, the

other like a snow white cream.

The mousse was awesome, but could have done with a lot less salt (of course I

don't need much salt in my life, the food should have the flavor)

The headcheese was stellar on top of the included baguette.

Actually I won't go in to further detail, other than the over salting of the

mousse, everything on that plate was wonderful. It also included a fig paste, a

couple types of mustard and the aforementioned baguette slices, charred a bit,

but a little soggy.

The burger was great, but way more cooked that the rare we asked for, next time

I'll probably ask for it sopping with blood to get it at the desired doneness.

No matter, that is just a health thing, it was sumptuous, with a fried cheese on

top, again, this is apparently from thousand hills, so my expectations were

fairly high.

The cheese plate was good, nothing to write home about, but tasty, the candied

pecans complimented the bleu well and the crackers included were great.

My only complaint is no bottled water and of course the tap water is pure

rubbish. I'm spoiled because our farm well water is exquisite, I only rate it

under Fiji, Buhl and the naturally sparkling waters like Apollinaris. So when I

go in to the city at restaurants I will go thirsty rather than endure the taste

and odor of the fluoride/chlorine tainted tap garbage, and that is what I did

last night.

No real complaints though other than the water and the clueless waitress

(seriously, I've been a waiter, not that hard to know what's on the plate!).

Highly recommendo, though it's not cheap, that plus my girlfriend's mocktail was

48.00$ Not overpriced, but you are certainly paying for what you get. I don't go

out hardly ever these days so was a particularly nice treat and glad to know

some of the food was sustainable.

Must learn to make mousse!

Pat's Tap is a now officially on my radar and MUST-GO to thanks to your

write-up...you've GOT to add this one to the restaurant database, too, so

others can find it in the future!
