Guest guest
Article and the astonishing pervasiveness of fake or tainted olive oils being sold as " extra virgin " I'm sure many of you will have seen this circulating on facebook and blogs, but it is really a must read for everybody. The article claimed that not one of australia's imported olive oils has been granted " certified extra virgin " status this year. That means ALL of the olive oils submitted for testing were either not olive oil, or contained contaminants, or refined oils. In other words, the chances are that the olive oil you have in your house right now, if you bought it through the most common channels, is fake or adulterated. 70%+ is what the article is claiming for the US if I'm understanding correctly, and apparently it's the mob that is heading this practice and also the recipient of your money! Enjoy! And have a wonderful day! http://www.foodrenegade.com/your-extravirgin-olive-oil-fake/
Guest guest
If you are a member of the Weston A Price Foundation each year you receive a " shopping guide " based on foods they've evaluated and determined are the " healthiest foods in supermarkets, health food stores and by mail order " . Under " fats and oils " there are three pages of good choices. This is an excellent organization (WAPF) and they are strong lobbyests for raw milk, truly safe foods, unprocessed foods and we have several local chapters you can join to get more information. The St. chapter was just started and meets the second Saturday each month at a room in the Como Park Pavallion at 10:30. The leaders are Waibel and Alyssa . Join the national organization for the shopping guide; come to the meeting on July 14th to learn more about WAPF.
