Guest guest
I see an anal/rectal oncologist who has the same policy. I told him they said the same thing about HIV tests in the 80's. Anyway, they can't treat low-grade neoplasia in the rear (men or women) same as the cervix in women, but a positive pap smear can give you a heads-up to monitor yourself more closely, or treat if it shows something more advanced. My primary physician has enough foresight to do a pap smear at least at my annual exam - policy or no. I think they're waiting for alarm bells before they spend the bucks to handle anal papilloma properly. Gives " dragging ass " a whole new meaning, huh? BG ----- Original Message ----- I was told by my Kaiser primary physician that they are currently not doing anal pap smears " as there is no standard way to read or interpret the test in men. " This sounds wrong, from what I've read here and else where. Any advice? Thanks, DenverJ ------------------------------------
