I bet you will get a laugh out of it. Yesterday, I was working. I work for a agency that rates Dollar General stores and how their stores appear and so forth. It is a fun job, I only do it about once a month, but gets me out of the house. Okay, now here is the tale: This was my last store to do, it was late in the afternoon and granted I am tired, because I had driven all over southwestern Oklahoma going into stores, checking to make sure they were clean, items were easy to find and so forth. I pulled up in front of the last stop and only parallel parking there. I saw a space, I pulled up to the car in front to parallel park as you are suppose to do. I began to back up, and this van pulls right in my spot. Parked crooked but they nosed me out. They almost hit me when they did it as my bumper was in nosed in so to speak. I looked in the rear view mirror at the driver and she was laughing her head off as too the van full of people with her. Oh she made a stupid mistake, as she was a C.O. with a van full of inmates, driving a state vehicle. I am a stickler for presenting yourself as a role model. Ya know I probably would have just found another spot, and while cursing under my breath would have done my job and went on. But dang it, this was a corrections officer, and she has a obligation to set forth a standard of behavior to those inmates (all the inmates were trustees, trustees usually are slated for release soon. They get trustee status because of good behavior in prison or jail. Okay my problem was not her stealing the parking space (although I was doing what was legal and parking the correct way. (by the way I love to parallel park because it shows my driving skills. LOL But her reaction to doing so, her laughter at me for stealing it. Okay, so I parked around the corner, in a regular spot. Went into the store, and asked her her name, she gave me her name. She then asked why. I replied well, I am going to report your driving to your supervisor. She smarted off to me, too bad so sad. I just turned and walked away from her, and did my job. About 5 people came up to me in the store and told me, that I could give their names and phone numbers to the supervisor because they had witnessed what she did, they heard her laughing and talking about it to the inmates and they thought it was unethical for her to be doing that with inmates. I took their numbers, and finished my job in the store. I acted professionally with the manager of the store. She remarked on my calm cool reaction to the situation. She said I would be livid!! I said to her, no sense getting upset when you know you are right. She is the one who acted unprofessionally. She has a standard to uphold. I said to the Manager, it is up to me to act like a adult and do the right thing. I got home called in a complaint to her supervisor, they are going to forward the complaint to the captain. I had Breianna and her friend in the car with me, they were like "Wow" that was a big gal Momma, I can't believe you went up to her and confronted her. I was like I was so righteous mad that I didn't think about her beating me up. I just knew that she acted awful and she needed to be confronted about her behavior. I told them you need to stand up to bullies, they come in all forms and fashions. Love JanetTake the ordinary things of life, and make them your own.
