I used a lawyer and finally won my disability case, that's what I would recommend.

Dave I am Sharon, 63 and have had HepC for 30 years. THat's my background. Now, I applied for disability and of course, was turned down. EVERYONE is turned down the first time. Keep plugging, reapply, apply for a review, go to an attorny, which is what I did, KEEP at it. If it's worth having, it's worth fighting for, as my dear departed mom used to say. I hope I don't sound too bossy, but this disability thing IS a fight. They behave as if it's money out of their own pockets that is being given and one DOES have to fight for it. Somewhere in the paperwork sent you is a statement that says you may ask for an appeal, that's what you do. Lots of paperwork, lots of frustration, but you'll get it in the end. Hangeth in there!!! , I have a good friend that finally used Bender and Bender to get her disability.. Not sure where you are located, or if they have an office there.. You don't need to pay anything up front and when they win for you you also get back pay.. Dave, I got turned down twice and then they tried to do it a 3rd time but I used a company called Alsup.. its like bender and bender and THEY made it happen! I got approved for 18 months and then they tried to take it away again,, they (ssdi) tried to send me to one of THEIR docs who was not obligated to even read my chart! Get an attorney,, immediately file an appeal, then get an attorney ! THEY DO NOT charge you unless you get approved and then they take a percentage of the back pay you get.. But file that appeal IMMEDIATELY because if you do, then when you finally do get approved, you will get alot of back pay.!!!! They always turn ya down at least once unless you have special circumstances... I had to hire an attorney that only specialize in Soc Security law when they tried to take it away from me about a year ago.. do NOT GIVE UP! and dont give up on the VA either,, keep kicking them,, But whatever ,, do NOT give up, and get that

Dave,

You can wallow in your own pity party and that's your business, but it

won't get the job done that needs to get done. I'm not saying this

because I work for an attorney. I used to think the same way, but those

that specialize in SSD can work this through faster than you ever can

or ever will. They have experience, you don't.

SSD can wrap you up for years and years; a specialist can tell you

exactly what you need, where to go, and how to do it right And they

will do it all for you, so you can concentrate on healing

yourself...not causing yourself more stress. Let the attorney take the

stress away from you.

And you missing your VA appt. doesn't help your case or make you feel

any better.

Taking money out of your pocket? This is SSD money you don't have in

your pocket to begin with. Anything you get from SSD is a bonus. So how

do you figure it's money out of your pocket?

Don't cut off your nose to spite your face.

Dave, I will share in your frustration and let you know that I am in the same sinking boat that you are, depending on what state you are in getting ssi or disability is like waiting on the tooth fairy and santa claus, unless you are 2days from dying of cancer they don't seem to get in a rush. The part that bites the most is that in AR they have told me you have to be turned down 3 times (theres a year out of your life) before they will schedule a hearing and depending on how many other people are in front of you, all you can do is hurry up and wait. I understand your anger and frustration, I am the same way. I have been waiting a year, I got an attorney after being denied the first time, they get at least 25% off the top of your check. I have been turned down 2 times now and my lawyer sent to the ss office to request a hearing. If you can get your doc to fill out the paper work as I have requested from my doc, the lawyer can try and push it thru faster

without a hearing. But from what info I have gotten it could take a few years to get it started, I have already been thru the anger stage, now I just take it one day at a time and am trying to not let it make me a crazy person, but thats tough when there are days you just want to go postal, its our gov. its all a big waiting game, they don't care that people don't have food, or gas to get to the doctor, money for scripts that I can't get covered, oh yeah and being on the verge of losing your house. That's where I am and have been for a year now.
