I have an appointment on Nov. 5 to discuss my wish list with my friend who is a PS and will let you know how it goes. marta

Guest guest
I'm so proud of you When's the appointment? I seriously have NEVER seen anyone who got just the smile cut who had WLS who was THRILLED with their results afterwards. Most WLS patients just have too much redudant skin. The ones who ARE Happy with the smile, have had MULTIPLE rounds of surgery.... I haven't seen anyone who had it done who was thrilled with just one round. Does that make sense? Im sure there is someone out there... but I haven't seen them. I have the anchor... and even still.. I wish my upper abs were tighter. I honestly do not know why the hell he didn't pull it even tighter. I mean I was in agony anyway...why not take a few more inches off? <grin> Guess what... I have dropped a few more inches!!!! Swelling is going down. I am one happy camper. Hope I lose a few more cause my hips are out of whack with my waist. Going to be hard to fit in pants. (Yes Ellen... Im still working on pics... I promise I'll get some up soon!) I probably need Lipo but I'll be damned if I am going under the knife again for elective surgery.... Call me this weekend if you get bored (I'll be around tomorrow...out sunday)... Are you really going to do this? Yep I am one happy camper.... My tummy isnt perfectly flat or a 6-pack, but my hip bones stick out then my tummy goes in then rounds out (if that make sense) Maybe now that the swelling is down I will post more pics. Anyways, Tracey saw it (and of course any one else who asks- I seem to have lost all modesty and will drop my drawers for anyone who wants to see my flat tummy- lol).... But I am one happy camper. Sharon in Onyx who also thinks- like Jo- that natural body shape has everything to do with the results. If you are pear shape- you will always be pear shape- just smaller...if you are apple shape- you will always be that shape, only smaller....I could be wrong, but dont tell Jo she is! Cause she is not! lol huh? mama Jo?

I will have the anchor cut, but I still have a pad of fat (OK it is like a roll-like a small rolled up towel layed in there) over my hip bones. I'm wondering if I need to look at some lipo suction while in there? Also, my legs look like elephant legs--the wrinkles--up at the top, and I do have a saddle bag area. Should I ask about having all of this taken care of at the same time? I don't want to do the entire leg lift thing, even though I know that would take the " Saggy baggy " look away. I have a grade 2 panni, and an incisional hernia that I think is almost then entire length of my incision. I could actually feel it open up over the course of a week. Am wearing my binder 24/7 again or I just hurt. 8 1/2 months post op, down 75 lbs from 233 to 158. I'm wearing a size 14 pants now. Weight loss has slowed considerably, to about 5 lbs more or less, a month. I still will loose a little bit, but then add to it the TT/Panni, and I should be in a 10 or so! THAT is exciting! I'm also looking for that rash that I work so hard to keep at bay usually. Now I need documenation of it for insurance to cover the Panni. WHen you need it, it won't come! Suggestions?? Fixing a large hernia and doing a tummy tuck is usually about all they want to do at one time. But it depends if one or two surgeons are working on you, how much time each procedure is expected to take (they don't like to keep you under longer than 5-6 hours) Asking is free, asking gets you educated....so ask. Guest guest
Lee....mine is an anchor incision. The plastic surgeon said that usually he avoids doing an anchor..(to avoid additional scars). He said that since I already had one why not? And he could give me a thinner scar (not that my ds scar was bad, just normal ds scar). By doing the anchor he could also pull in the sides a bit. He did...about an inch on each side of the incision (I can tell how much he took by how much closer my drain scars were) he could have been more aggressive in that area. Ok Now to weigh anchor against smile incision....... With the smile incision only...they pull down on the skin and the remaining ds incision could end up below your belly button and not visible most of the time. You could also have the doctor redo just the part of the DS incision that remains, giving you a real thin line and it won't even be noticeable below the belly button. The Anchor incision...you still have a scar going up your tummy, but it should be thin. The doctor has the opportunity to pull skin sideways not just down. Additional pain just was not a factor for me with the vertical part of the incision. Lets talk disadvantages. 9 times out of 10 if the incision opens, it will open where the vertical incision meets the horizontal incision (this is true if he redoes the ds scar below the belly button as stated above)...On me with the line going down my tummy when I am standing straight it looks just fine...if I bend over...loose skin from the back falls forward and I have a flabby butt crack look going on. One important factor in considering the anchor...how well do you scar? Do you keloid real bad....Also with the anchor there is much more incision line that could possibly become infected or open up. The decision to have an anchor or smile is made by both you and your Doctor...discuss the advantages and disadvantages with him. Lee...I know your a surgery weenie...but I really doubt you'll be sorry. Getting rid of that hanging tummy skin does wonders for how your perceive yourself and how you fit in cloths. Not having that buldge in your pants is amazing. (shut-up Jim) Jo

I was even hoping to transplant the fat from my thighs to my boobs, but Dr K said I would just loose it all again... oh well.
