Guest guest
there's also the possibility, with microcytic anemia, that it's not so much iron deficiency as a need for more B6 and other components to generate heme. Sometimes when a body is in a highly oxidative state, adding iron isn't a good idea as it perpetuates the oxidation. Dark green leafies, and liver are your best natural sources. Guest guest
I don't know if they are related but my doctor was first concerned about my Vitamin D, for two years I was taking D2 (the synthetic prescription), nothing changed, then I was advised by a friend to change it to Vit D 3, I only took it for one month and my Vit D is back to normal. So I'm working on the Iron now. Will work on it through diet too. Thanks, Hiba ________________________________ From: Lyke <karen.lyke@...> Sent: Thursday, February 2, 2012 12:30 PM Subject: Re: Advice on Iron suppl  there's also the possibility, with microcytic anemia, that it's not so much iron deficiency as a need for more B6 and other components to generate heme. Guest guest
Of these two, Raw Iron is the better. I also really like Blood Builder by Mega Food for a 100% food based iron that is probably less expensive than Gardens of Life. Floradix is an option, too. With any of these, chlorophyll can be added too. Nettles, dark greens, nuts, seeds, and meats are good food sources, particularly bison, beef, and dark turkey leg meat. Vitamin C rich foods help iron absorption and Calcium hinders it - take your high calcium stuff at a different time of day. In some forms of anemia, there may be a deficiency of B12 along with anemia, maybe not a bad idea to check your levels. Faith > > Hello, I need advice on Iron suppliment. Guest guest
I also have had an anemia problem for a while now. My Hematologists are stumped. Not only do I seem to have trouble holding onto iron, but I also have trouble absorbing it in the first place. I've gone to the extreme of having to iron infusions done. (They attach iron to a sugar molecule and put it directly in your blood via an IV) I still take iron most every day. In the beginning, I tried blending raw liver with tomato juice and drinking it. I've tried different herbs & supplements. My body just doesn't absorb it well for some reason. (Hence the infusions, by-passing the stomach) The Hematologists are the ones who recommended the Iron Bisglycinate. I take 2 of the 25mg by Solgar a day. They claimed that form of iron was the most absorbable & they had the best luck with it for their patients. They said that you didn't need as high of a dose of the IB because it was so absorbable. You take iron along with a high dose of Vit. C, of course. I've never had the Raw Iron one you mentioned. I'm curious as to how well it works. Everyone's body is different. We need to find what works for us. I'd like to hear what works for you. Good luck. Therese in Viroqua
Guest guest
Theresa and Faith thank you, I went with the Raw Iron. I saw many positive reviews online and I thought I would check it out. Theresa I have never heard of the iron through the IV, did it work for you? Hiba Sunday, February 12, 2012 1:21 AM  Of these two, Raw Iron is the better.
