My life has been changed in many ways for the better. The phrase "born again" comes to mind often. But I have a whole new perspective on what success means. I cultivate inner peace, balance, and harmony, as these treasures are available to the vast majority of us if we would but open our eyes. There were many dark moments of course. It seems we walk alone through life's darkest corridors. We just have to acknowledge the darkness and pass through it on our way to the next stage. The body is

infinitely intelligent, it seems. We are carrying within us the intelligence of several hundred million years of life, but we just don't know it! My sister loves to badmouth doctors and drug companies. She has a bad case of invasive candida paripsalosis and has had to work hard to find remedies since too few people have the disease to justify major medical research. But I think medical science is great, and doctors are wonderful, if you don't expect them all to know everything. My heart goes out to all of you struggling to regain your good health. I hope this group keeps growing. It sure helped me.Take the ordinary things of life, and make them your own. Do the impossible with a smile

My liver damage was only inflamation, and now that's probably gone.

One thing I forgot to mention is that I'm have a 2-cup daily green tea

habit that I swear by. I think that helps cleanse the liver.

Everyone is raving about the all-new beta.

Alcohol is a big no-no for anyone with Hep C even if you clear the Hep C.

It will bring back the virus post haste. And in larger numbers.

It is better to leave it alone. We don't need no stinkin' alcohol. LOL

What we need is a better can opener. I jest!!

Love

I learned I had hep C in 2001, after giving blood. I had it for about

33 years. I quit smoking years ago and never drank much but during the

90s I was drinking about 4 beers per week. But in about 2001 I had

begun to lose my appetite for beer and pipe smoking as the disease was

catching up to me, sapping my vigor. During treatment in 200-6, I

looked forward to when I would be able to drink beer again, in fact

that was one of my goals in life! The nurses tried to talk me out of it

but I think some people with hep C can tolerate light alchohol, because

I drank and smoked for years and still suffered no liver damage. Anway,

almost immediately after treatment I began sipping wine. Then a month

or two later I began testing beer. For some reason beer didn't taste

as enjoyable as it did before. And drinking two beers would not be

pleasant. But last sunday, during the Indianapolis Colts game, I drank

3 Guiness Stouts and felt fine. Of course, being from Indianapolis, I

was fired up about the Colts. But the fact is my health has taken a

slow path to reocovery.

One of my biggest pleasures now is not alcohol but meditation, which I

start each day with. When I was fatigued with the treatment, I was

unable to meditate because the medicine caused me sleep problems so I

took Remeron almost daily in very small amounts. That was clouding my

mind enough to ruin meditation, unfortunately.

I hope that someone finds this interesting! I think we all go through

so many of the same things. It's good to share them I think.

Thanks---same with me---drinking is my goal in life, but hope that I become like you and find a bigger meaning once the 12 months is over. However, I am stage 1 cirrosis, so I plan to take another year to allow my liver to rebuild.I like meditation and still do even with the cloudiness, but cant say no to a good game on TV with your buddies too,brain_child846 <peter_tocco@...> wrote: > > Thanks --how about smoking or alchohol ?
