Hi everyone! Here's hoping for a wonderful new year! I made the drive to

Pittsburgh today

(about three hours) for my monthly doctor visit. Tonight is also shot night

(#4) and I seem to

have made it home all in one piece lol. Maybe my fatigue will calm my nerves

when I pick up

the needle tonight.

I'm told everything is looking good. Finally remembered to check on what my

viral load was

at start - about 10 million of those nasty little buggers! Well, it seems that

my liver panel

actually came back in the normal range at week two (they have me doing weekly

blood tests

for the first five weeks) and we went ahead and did a viral load today. I was

surprised that it

was suggested at week three - but what the heck! The results should be back in

about ten

days. Now I'm going to mark my calendar and use that famous brain fog to try

and forget

about it until then :-).

My love to all, karen

Sounds GREAT ,, you are doing wonderfully! I hope your viral load is gone with this PCR but if not, as long as you had that 2 log drop,, you should be ok! This is an amazing journey! I actually did the shot tonight with barely a

flinch (just a slight

hand shake lol). Actually I think things are going well - the hepatologist and

his team that

I am working with seem to be very good so far. I am impressed with how in touch

that

stay with me. I was concerned with being so long distance from their office.

Actually the hardest thing I am dealing with right now is a very stressful

situation in my

home with my almost 18 year old son that seems to be escalating again. I could

definitely

use some ideas for keeping my stress levels down. I really need a healthy home

right now!

hugs to all, karen

Thanks Liz! Thanks Jax!

I think the stress levels are hitting the fan here again and I've had two nights

without

sleep. I can definitely play hard ball although we're already past the place

where my son is

hurting himself. I believe conflict is an opportunity for growth and can feel

pretty centered

in myself - but the lack of sleep that sometimes comes in the middle of the

night with the

stress doesn't feel like a positive opportunity for my treatment. I'm wiped out

this

morning and I don't think it is from the drugs :-). I'm concerned about the

effect of

sleepless nights and am wondering if I should share that part of it with my

treatment

group. I have shared before starting that there is quite a bit of situational

stress in my

home due to my son's present struggles. Oh well - I guess asking for a calm

year on the

home front while I treat just wasn't in the cards (but I was sure hoping! lol).

Anybody

know how to freeze time for a year? love,k

Well Jax - your note was perfect. I did call a family meeting yesterday

(between falling

asleep lol) and let him know what I was seeing and where I would be drawing the

lines.

But your note really brought me back to reality and the importance of calm in my

life right

now. No, although there is no where to send him and I'm really on my own here,

after

reading your note today - I sat out on the back porch and did a little deep

meditative

breathing. And I just came to the conclusion that this is my life and journey

and that I

have an opportunity to grow and detach with love when I need to and take care of

me. Not

sure why, but I feel pretty good about this. But your note was the kicker!

Thanks, Jax.

Thanks, Nikki. I'll be hoping for you next week! This growing with our

children is not

always a smooth road. I find myself visualizing some of the good memories

during the

harder times and being greatful for the love I have in my life.

I'm really realizing how hard the lack of sleep can be - especially now that I'm

on

treatment. I've been doing pretty well - but after a couple of nights with very

little sleep

and the long drive to the doctor's on Thursday, I injected Thursday night and

could barely

stand up all day yesterday. I'm back walking around today - but still feel

tired and am

taking it easy. Did push myself to take a little walk earlier, but that's about

it.

Keep breathing, Nikki - I suspect that seeing your son next week is going to be

a

wonderful reunion. Hope you can breath through the stress :-). much love,

karen

Dear Jax,

I just wanted to thank you again for your sincere caring. I think sometimes

there can be

such a feeling of isolation when we are dealing with life and its issues. Just

knowing that

others understand and have been there and survived is a real blessing. Today is

my son's

18th birthday (and my 5th injection night!). I just made a birthday cake

(although it is

looking pretty lopsided lol) and am waiting for it too cool before putting on

the

decorations. Sometimes it seems like we just have to focus on the good stuff in

spite of

everything. It all goes by so fast at times. with much love, karen
