Guest guest
In case you are interested, the FDA is accepting public comment for 1 more week on mandating draconian salt reduction in foods (think cheese, butter, fermented foods, all foods). Salt is essential for health. Of course, Food Inc is pushing for the mandate because there's a profitable new chemical substitute in the pipeline called Senomyx that fools the body into tasting salt without delivering real minerals. Here's the comment form: http://www.regulations.gov/#%21submitComment;D=FDA-2011-N-0400-0038

I don't see anything about mandating salt reduction. Can you provide a link to where a mandate is discussed? Gail
Guest guest
WAPF sent an alert indicating that the FDA is laying the groundwork for extensive restrictions on salt. Given the fact that Morton Satin from the Salt Institute gave a talk at the last WAPF conference on his efforts involving the FDA, I think that they have the inside track on how extensive these coming restrictions will be. You could explore and learn more here: http://www.saltinstitute.org/ http://www.westonaprice.org/vitamins-and-minerals/the-salt-of-the-earth http://www.westonaprice.org/modern-foods/senomyx http://www.thehealthyhomeeconomist.com/studies-suggest-low-salt-diets-are-deadly\ / http://www.salthealth.org/ By the way, I recommend getting the recording of Morton's fascinating talk (I love the fact that his name is Morton!). I guess I'm not surprised it's hard to find the full extent of their intentions online. Please post if you find anything further.
