Hi Rich I dont blame you for being very concerned about this! What I WOULD do is to go to the Lab and ask them to give you a copy of your recent labs.. yes a white count that low is very low and you should be getting neupogen for that. Missing a shot CAN affect your ability to reach SVR. What genotype are you ,, Im sure you told us but I cannot remember.. IF you are a geno 2, I'd be less worried but if you are a geno 1,, well thats an entirely different story! I was told to not take one shot too for the same reason and as soon as I did the neupo shot I also did my INF shot. MY gastro got really mad and thats when I fired him.. ITS MY LIFE,, not his and this was my best shot at reaching SVR... I did and I was only late 2 days on my shot and I NEVER missed another one. BUT I'd DAMN sure find out what the lab was!richlee7 <rnewton8@...> wrote: what effect does missing an interferon shot have on getting an svr on treatment. i have a situation. my doctor told me not to take my next interferon shot till he had my next labs, and he was suppose to get back to me yesterday and still no word. my last lab had a WBC count that was low (1.9) so they wanted to check it again and if it was still low give and if so give me some neupogen to bring it up to normal. i still have not been able to get in touch with my doctor or have heard anything and i was due for my interferon shot yesterday. i dont want

to throw my schedule off or lose a week or interrupt treatment. this has me worried. also how low is a 1.9 for a wbc count? if i dont hear from him by today i am going to just take the shot anyway as i dont want to interrupt my treatment, i have already cleared the virus at 6 weeks and i dont want to fuck my chances of getting an svr.what would you do in this situation if you could not get a hold of your doctor?Jackie

genotype 1 and i just took the shot before i read your message. i

am sure they will be upset.and from now on i will get all my labs

copied to my house so i can read them myself and look for red flags.

from now on i am going to be taking a more proactive approach to my

treatment as it is my life, and a simple error such as this with

labwork can ultimately have a effect on a svr or make someone have

to start treatment over again, and i dam sure dont want to have to

do that.

I think if I were in your position I would do my shot . Don't interrupt tx unless absolutely necessary . The virus mutates if tx is interupted . 1.9 is low but I know now that many people have had lower wbc's . If u do decide to take your shot please keep yourself at home , your wbc's fight infections so your going to need isolation from the general public until the doc gives you neupogen . Have you tried calling his exchange ?

missing an interferon shot

what effect does missing an interferon shot have on getting an svr on treatment. i have a situation. my doctor told me not to take my next interferon shot till he had my next labs, and he was suppose to get back to me yesterday and still no word. my last lab had a WBC count that was low (1.9) so they wanted to check it again and if it was still low give and if so give me some neupogen to bring it up to normal. i still have not been able to get in touch with my doctor or have heard anything and i was due for my interferon shot yesterday. i dont want to throw my schedule off or lose a week or interrupt treatment. this has me worried. also how low is a 1.9 for a wbc count? if i dont hear from him by today i am going to just take the shot anyway as i dont want to interrupt my treatment, i have already cleared the virus at 6 weeks and i dont want to fuck my chances of getting an svr.what would you do in this situation if you could not get a hold of your doctor?

Good! Im glad you took your shot! I had a white count down to 1.0 and while I had such a low count, I never got sick, even when I was working around sick folks and doing the health fairs I used to do. YOU GOTTA be proactive or else you will fall through the cracks,, its not right, its not fair but that IS the way it is... and if your doc doesnt like it that you are being more demanding regarding YOUR treatment and YOUR life, then find a new doc! Most docs who are confident in their own skills have no problem with an active patient, its only the ones who have 'no clue' who want to be the "DOCTOR IN CHARGE"... richlee7 <rnewton8@...> wrote: genotype 1 and i just took the shot before i read your message. i am sure they will be upset.and from now on i will get all my labs copied to my house so i can read them myself and look for red flags. from now on i am going to be taking a more proactive approach to my treatment as it is my life, and a simple error such as this with labwork can ultimately have a effect on a svr or make someone have to start treatment over again, and i dam sure dont want to have to do that. > what effect does missing an interferon shot have on getting an svr > on treatment. i have a situation. my doctor told me not to take my > next interferon shot
