Does anyone know how to take PROPER care of a ficus tree. I obviously

know unproper care as the thing is looking more like a Charlie Brown

Christmas tree everyday! It is a pretty tree - well, it would be if

it had leaves. Has a nice braided trunk. About 6-7 feet tall. If

anyone knows what to do PLEASE let me know before I KILL it!

Lee,

I have never had problems with mine. I keep the soil damp, but not wet. I put

one or two of those Jobes plant spike in every month or so. My sister has

hada couple die on her... I think they were outside though? Maybe too cold?

Wow, you sure like a challenge! LOL!

They like moist, but not over-watered soil. They hate being moved

or agitated in anyway.

BTW, they have them growing all over Disneyland where they thrive.

Ticks me off.

You might be over-watering it?

Marta

Who is abusing the hell out of a ficus now and it is taking it.

Most likely explanation: it was free.

That is absolutely true...that is why whenever I see those fabulous

ones with the braided trunks, that I know I will kill because they

cost way over 50.00, my behavior modification says...eat more ice

cream and leave the tree there.

oh yea, and buy the plastic ones when they are on sale.

Lee,

Do like does at work, have the boss hire a professional service

familiar with maintaining indoor plants and trees. That's the only way

they were able ot keep their plants alive. lol

Lee,

Do you have the ficus inside or outside? I think moving the tree - changing the

light requirements/availability- can cause stress that can be terminal. The

Southern Living Garden Book says- if falling leaves are green- it maybe too

dry: if leaves are yellow it maybe too wet. But from experience, moving it

inside(less light) will cause the problem. Patience may help the leaves return!

HOpe you find a solution. Betsy
