Thanks for listing this,Anne, it's so far out of reason and so far out of

common sense, that I too had an impossible time of believing it! Apparently,

the ONLY problem (as the food police see it) is that the Mangalitza pigs (from

Hungary) are considered " wild animals " . This in spite of the fact that they are

a heritage breed that is well established and well-loved by chefs around the

world. I'm still in shock from all this...where will it all end?

Thoughts?

And hear my interview with Mark Baker, who runs one of the farms to be targeted

by the Michigan government, at:

http://tv.naturalnews.com/v.asp?v=67C793DC0503D209399C21450485DA07

The ISO also deems farmers who raise these pigs to be felons, and DNR officials

were ready to make arrests on the scene and haul away these farmers to be

prosecuted as hardened criminals.

Farmer forced to shoot his own baby piglets in cold blood

" I think this is an unconstitutional order, these actions of the DNR are way out

of bounds, " attorney ph O'Leary told NaturalNews in an interview today. He

is representing one of the farmers who was targeted in these raids. " To take

what was six months ago an entirely legal activity, and suddenly people are

felons over it. They're not growing drugs, running guns or killing anybody,

they're raising animals pursuant to USDA regulations and state of Michigan

regulations. They haven't done anything wrong here, and the DNR is treating them

like they are hardened criminals. "

In anticipation of the DNR arriving on the scene, one farmer engaged in what can

only be described as a heart-wrenching task of shooting his own pigs, one by

one, including baby piglets before the DNR arrived. This was to avoid being

arrested as a felon. His livelihood is now completely destroyed, as the state of

Michigan has put him out of business. Even after this farmer informed the DNR

that he had destroyed his entire herd of pigs, the DNR continued to illegally

acquire a search warrant by providing false information to a court Judge, then

conducting an armed raid on his ranch to verify that the entire herd of pigs had

indeed already been shot to death. That this took place satisfied the DNR, which

is now showing itself to be engaged in the mob-style destruction of targeted

farming businesses through its mass-murder agenda of Michigan's small-scale farm

pigs.

" It was very traumatic for him. These guys are farmers, and I know how much he

cared for the animals there, and the DNR treats these like they're some kind of

a plant that needs to be exterminated rather than animals that people care

about, " said O'Leary.

Here is what one of the raided farmers had to say about his experience of being

forced to destroy his pigs:

" I was served a search warrant yesterday at 7: 45am. I have killed all my hogs.

[DNR] gave me papers that say I do not have any hogs on my property. All they

saw were dead hogs laying around from my mass slaughtering. It took 12 guys 4

times in there to kill all of them, sows with young, Pregnant sows, dozens of

piglets, and old mature boars. It has been a sad few weeks. Does anyone know

what it feels like to open fire on 20 baby piglets in one group which weigh

between 5 lbs and 15 lbs. They are so adorable and cute. They commented to

everyone that they never saw a fence built so tough and no way would a hog get

out of this area. " (www.BakersGreenAcres.com)

One of the raids targeted Ron McKendrick of Renegade Ranch in Cheboygan County.

His ranch was raided on Saturday morning, and DNR agents reportedly conducted an

interrogation of his customers and his 75-year-old senior citizen employee. In

order to gain access to his property, DNR bureaucrats acquired a temporary

restraining order which was used to bully their way onto the property (a

violation of the Fourth Amendment).

Another raid was conducted against the farm of Dave Tuxberry. He's the man who

was forced to shoot all his own pigs before DNR agents arrived, in order to

avoid being arrested as a felon.

After forced chemo therapy and forced vaccinations and bill's like California's

allowing children to get vaccinated without their parents knowledge or

permission and school's throwing out homemade lunches in favor of school 'fare'

you're still having a hard time believing this kind of thing is happening right

here and right now in this country?

We are living in a police state, full stop. There is no area of life the

government won't reach in to. No detail too small for them to control.

Imagine if they showed up at your house with armed 'officers' and very suddenly

declared your cat or your dog to be an invasive species and demanded that you

get your gun and kill the animal right then and there while they watch or face

arrest as a FELON.

If you're still voting democrat and republican you are contributing to this type

of behavior. Get active, as best as you can, no action is too small, hassle your

reps, run for office, share this kind of info even with your non-foodie friends

(most of them will claim to be freedom loving), demonstrate and most of all pay

attention! This kind of stuff is happening all around us and is becoming more

and more frequent.

Also you can hold an image of a healthier, free-er, more peaceful future, and

each morning be grateful for that future, feeling the emotions that living in

that kind of world will evoke. A world where you have easy access to farm foods,

not only because they're illegal and you can pick them up from any local farm

down the road, but because we have built a community of people who trust and

depend on eachother.

The way the system is right now is on the verge of imploding, it might be an

uncomfortable process, but it's unsustainable as it is and by it's nature won't

be around for too much longer. We can ease the adjustment by holding a clear

mental picture of a smooth transition and happiness and prosperity, for ALL

living beings.

The person who shot his pigs before DNR arrived was actually a game-hunting

reserve owner who had a herd of pigs who displayed the physical characteristics

described in Michigan's new ISO (Invasive Species Order.) The Order affects

several game-hunting ranches in MI, and and all farmers raising pigs. Natural

News can be a bit sensationalist in it's reporting style, to say the least.

But it is true Michigan's ISO took affect April 1st. Owners of suspect pigs

(pigs displaying certain physical characteristics common to wild boars, which

just happens to include a number of heritage-breeds,) which can include farmers

and game ranches, were given 15 months prior to April 1st to dispose of the

pigs. Then effective April 1st, those that didn't are subject to inspection,

possible arrest on felony charges if pigs covered under the ISO are found,

shooting of the pigs by DNR officials, and fines to the owners. Many, if not

most of the farmers and ranchers have already slaughtered the pigs that meet the

physical-description criterion. Four are suing the state, and it's currently

unknown how many farmers are still harboring contraband pigs.

At least ten other states considering similar regulations are watching Michigan

to see what happens there - what happens in court, and what happens in the

'court' of public opinion. I feel it's really important for us to speak out and

speak up about this. Industrial pork, beef, chicken, and egg producers are

beginning to feel the pinch from consumers turning away from their products and

toward naturally-raised, GMO-free, pastured livestock products. It's pretty

clear the pork industry played a role in Michigan's new ISO, if you research the

background of the the order (not easy to do - this stuff's not readily available

in the mainstream, and some of those reporting on it tend to get pretty

sensational and over-the-top, don't stick to the facts, and sometimes discredit

their stories when they get overly-sensationalist.)

I started a petition directed to the Michigan DNR head and governor. Almost

1,300 people have signed in just a few days. I'm new to the group, but I hope

that won't stop you from considering signing the petition, and sharing it with

your contacts. I feel it's important to increase awareness of this matter and

for all possible public pressure to be applied to Michigan over this, while the

court cases move through the system. The ISO needs to be changed in Michigan,

before it spreads to the other states considering similar legislation, and

Michigan needs to hear loud and clear that we won't sit idly by and just let

this stand. The petition contains additional information in both the overview

and the petition letter. You can find it here:

eritage-pig-breeds/

Thanks for your consideration. I'm happy to be a new member of Traditional

Foods - MN! Cheers,

Please, do not kick naturalnews for reporting that the these farmers were forced

(by threat of arrest) to kill their own animals, and unless you've been in that

position, don't blame the farmer for protecting his freedom by sacrificing his

future game animals. The wording of that ISO is so vague that it could be my 4

week old baby pigs. I would do the same if I thought that the feds were planning

to kill my hens, hogs or goats - out of pure respect for the animals. If Mike

added some flavor, it was to get your attention. Did it work? What's

happening is just plain wrong. We talked about it on our weekly conference call

to plan for the next priority of this food movement that will unfold in

Minneapolis in May. We need to put our collective effort into a show of support

for one issue at a time, until we have enough awareness to expand our coverage.

If you were at Vern Hershberger's rally last month, you know how much energy was

channeled into that court appearance. It can change everything. It must change

everything!

The

person who shot his pigs before DNR arrived was actually a game-hunting reserve

Unfortunately while this sounds extreme, it doesn't sound unusual to me.

There's been slaughtering of heritage breeds lately in the US and Canada, which

makes me curious if it's perhaps something that's lobbied for on a

multi-national level. Of course, I suppose that these could also be isolated

instances of ignorance.

A similar situation:

/message/32544

I think Mike Adam's advice and contact info is great. When the public reaction

and outrage to these attacks is instant and large, those in charge will start

thinking twice about their decisions.

It would be wonderful if there was a way to get some of these heritage loving

chefs together (even Martha now promotes and raises heritage turkeys and

other breeds) to bring publicity to policies that endanger them.
