Guest guest
All, When I saw Botan's recent post, I thought of this. If you missed or don't listen to one of the greatest (my opinion) radio shows - This American Life last Saturday - the 2nd, you may want to tune in to listen to the last story of the hour. The show is entitled: The Poultry Slam - 3 stories about fowl (take off on the name The Poetry Slam) The last act is: Latin Liver. It's a story about foie gras of all things. Yet, I believe it may be the most interesting and beautiful story about animals, or at least geese, that I've heard. Dan Barber, a chef with the restaurant Blue Hill, in Manhattan, who also has a farm in upstate New York, raising animals and vegetables humanely and sustainably, travels to Spain to meet and interview Sousa - a farmer who raises geese primarily for foie gras without force feeding or confining them. His knowledge and love of his geese was amazing to hear. I can't get the link to copy here but if you pull up This American Life - and go to the show on 12/2/11, you'll find it and can listen.
