Guest guest
, you're a great inspiration for cleaning up one's body! I need to do that before I start, I know I'll feel better. This old body must have antique toxins hiding in the fat cells. lol I want to make this round of treatment successful and as comfortable as I can make it, so will "detox" to start. What did you use? My dd used a product that she paid big bucks for and I don't want to pay that much. Are there cheaper and efficient/effective products on the market? Sharon <marvindamartian05@...> wrote: Kerri~I was feeling just like you describe until a few week ago - I detoxedmy body and started taking supplements and vitamins, etc., and this isthe most important thing...drinking LOTS of water. I feel almostnormal again! I know it's mainly the hydration, because yesterday Ihad to drive up to Pasadena for a meeting, and didn't drink my usualamount of water (didn't want to have to make multiple stops!) and by 4in the afternoon, I was just shot!I won't be able to start treatment until at least April due toinsurance issues, so I am trying to get, and stay as healthy aspossible beforehand. Since I detoxed (not only stopped alcohol, fastfood, processed food, etc but also got them out of my system!) andstarted "super-hydrating", it has made all the difference.I know that ALL of the junk isn't out of my body (fat cells storetoxins for years) but much of it is. While you are detoxing, you willfeel like crap...I warn you. Your skin will break out, you will havediarrhea, BUT that is the body ridding itself of poison. While you aregetting rid of poison and replacing it with good stuff (water, organicfood, supplements) your body goes through a transition period and thenyou come out "on the other side"...feeling much better. I now have nocraving for alcohol, fast food, etc. I tried to take a bite of awhopper a few weeks ago, and it tasted like garbage. Couldn't wait toget a hold of some fruit salad!I have lost 11 lbs, and someone at work said to me the other day "whatare you doing? you look great!". Just 2 months ago I looked bloated, dark circles under eyes, etc. Now skin is glowing, eyes are clear, weight is finally coming off. I am starting to feel less like a"person with a disease", and now I feel like socializing again.Good Luck! Everyone is raving about the all-new beta. Guest guest
i agree, but im no doc eather. <marvindamartian05@...> wrote: Sharon, I am not a big proponent of "products", especially if you are tryingto accomplish what is essentially a simple act. So, I did not buy anyof those "liver cleanse" products in the stores! Iam not advocating that you do what I do (check with your doctor), andLord knows I an not a health professional, but I read a lot. And Ikeep to the KISS principle.I learned that the function of the liver is to cleanse, so you wouldbe "cleansing the cleanser" if you do what many of these "livercleanse" products advise. Sounds kinda funny! Also it's a short termsolution. So what I did was make the liver better able to it's job bycommitting to a lifestyle change that will be perpetual...not just aweekend "when-I-can-stay-near-the-bathroom" type of thing. Of course,in the beginning, that's exactly what it is, as you are taking inmainly liquid to try and flush out as many toxins that way as you can. There are some books out there (such as Dr. Cabot's book), andlots of good info in them, but often the author has some side agenda, such as selling their own "liver tonic" or what have you. A reallygreat book (and it does also recommend certain products, but the tiein isn't obvious) is The Hep C Help Book. One of the authors, Dr. Gishis an ESTEEMED liver doc up in San Francisco, and the other author isa TCM (traditional Chinese Medicine) expert. They mention a lot ofexcellent food for the liver. So, get a book that not only talks about"detoxing", but about "liver health" in particular. You aren't analcoholic or drug addict just trying to clean yourself up after abinge, you are a person with a chronic illness who is making alifestyle change. It's not only by eliminating waste that your body cleanses itself oftoxins, but through the pores as well. If you can get to a sauna (TheHep C Help book advocates a dry sauna, I believe - as opposed to asteam bath), it is great to do this. Exercising, to the extentpossible, will also make you sweat. Obviously, while you do all ofthis expelling of toxins, you are also putting good stuff into yourbody, such as water of course, but I also take about 2 oz ofwheatgrass a day (fresh squeezed). All of the grasses (barley grass, wheat grass, etc.) are great for the liver. If you can't get freshsqueezed, go to the health food store and get some "super green" orother green foods supplement, or Odwalla Super Food juice.I am writing too much, sorry to ramble...just one last thing...soda(cokes for those in the South, pop for mid-westerners) is one of theWORST things you can put into your body, along with processed meatswhich contain nitrates. The junk in these "foods" stays in your fatcells and contibute to the development of cancer, deplete the calciumin your bones, etc. Get this junk OUT of you, and DO NOT put anymorein! I used to love my Diet Pepsi, but I love my pomagranate juice evenmore because of the good it does for my body.Hope that helps!> Kerri~> > I was feeling just like you describe until a few week ago - I detoxed> my body and started taking supplements and vitamins, etc., and this is> the most important thing...drinking LOTS of water. Guest guest
Thanks, . Your advice is sound. I drink very little soda and no processed meat. I DO eat canned soup sometimes, tho. I really prefer home made. I eat healthy and I walk on my treadmill at least 3 times a week and rest a lot. I think my lifestyle is healthy. I love apple cider and cranberry mix juices. My one failing is that I love peptomints and will eat as many as six in an evening. That's not a lot, but I do it every day. Guest guest
Well its better to change docs BEFORE you start tx than to have to do this in the middle of your tx! Abandonment applies to a doc who turfs you without providing for continuing medical care honey. We learned all about that in paramedic school because we too had to make sure to turn the patient over to someone of at least my training or higher meaning that I could only turn over my patient to another paramedic or nurse or doc,, never to an emt basic.. and a doc cannot stop treating you as a patient without making sure you have another doc to treat you OR HE IS guilty of abandonment! Guest guest
Peppermints?? How about a cup of hot tea with a peppermint in it. *drools* Girl you are okay in my book. Love JanetSharon Crosby <blubirdxoxo@...> wrote: Thanks, . Your advice is sound. I drink very little soda and no processed meat. I DO eat canned soup sometimes, tho. I really prefer home made. My one failing is that I love peptomints and will eat as many as six in an evening. That's not a lot, but I do it every day. SharonJackie on <redjaxjm > wrote: EXCELLENT ,, excellent advise! <marvindamartian05 > wrote: Sharon, I am not a big proponent of "products", especially if you are tryingto accomplish what is essentially a simple act. So, I did not buy anyof those "liver cleanse" products in the stores! Many of them justencourage diarrhea, and you don't need to spend $12 on THAT!I am not saying that they are "bad", it's just that if you take sometime to study all of the labels, they mainly contain things such assilymarin (milk thistle), dandelion, choline and lots of other thingsthat I have already integrated into my diet and supplement "plan". Guest guest
Welllll, I don't feel wonderful, but I'm 63 and bound to have aches and pains and am often more tired than I wish. BUT, I DO live a pretty healthy lifestyle. lol Peptomints are life savers in peppermint flavor. I do love them. I like other hard candies, I like to have something in my mouth to satisfy my craving to snack. These life savers and other hard candies help and I don't eat very many of them, they have to melt in my mouth. lol Sharon <marvindamartian05@...> wrote: Oh Sharon, you rebel with your peptomints! LOL. What are peptomints? They sound good, I want some! The cranberry juice is great, isn't it?! And the treadmill is my fave.I think your lifestyle is very healthy, and I think you are going todo great. I have to tell you something "funny" that my GI told me theother day...When I was there to talk about tx, when to start, etc, I asked the docabout how he would treat my sides (I learned this from my "homegirls", Janet, Jax, Liz and Anne), and got the answers that I waslooking for. But he also told me that in his experience, it is thehealthy-living ones, like us, who don't tolerate tx as well, becausewe are used to being healthy and we notice every side effect. He saidthat it's the people who have abused their bodies who seem to "sailright through tx". This is because they are used to feeling like crap,I guess? But, how does that explain Ally, who has stuck with going to the gymat 5 am every day through tx?It's an interesting theory though. For the record, I plan to keeptrying to be healthy and hopefully that will help me go through tx.And you do the same and we will see how far that gets us! Everyone is raving about the all-new beta. Guest guest
Now you got my interest with that , hot cocoa with peppermint sounds sooo yummy Sharon Crosby <blubirdxoxo@...> wrote: Or hot cocoa with peppermint. YUMMY!! SharonJanet <doc_jade > wrote: Peppermints?? How about a cup of hot tea with a peppermint in it. *drools* Girl you are okay in my book. Love JanetSharon Crosby <blubirdxoxo > wrote: Thanks, .
