Guest guest
Aha! That explains it! Seems just did the same thing. Others do it too. I have a different system. I get all my mails in my inbox, sorted in forums and there; in threads. I often read one thread at a time. Sometimes I save a whole thread until it has many posts on it and then I read all of it at once. Sometimes I reply to something without reading the whole thread, only to find that someone else have already said the same thing in the next post. :-( Often I read and reply to the shortest and easiest posts first and save the long or deep posts for later (and may forget them). Some are too long, densely written or uninteresting to me personally to ever get read (though I have a hard time ever deleting anything I haven't first read). Sometimes I read and reply to the last first. Some posts may end up on threads that are so far back in my inbox that I fail to see them. So, clearly, it's a bit of a hit or miss which posts I happen to read and when. :-) Inger How I answer posts When I come back online and sign in to the forum, I go to the last message I read and continue in the order posts are made. When I respond, it's to the post I am reading at the time. Sometimes it takes a while to get to the posts that others assume I have already read when, in fact, I haven't read them at all as I haven't gotten to those posts yet. Guest guest
Yep that is how I do it mostly - but I am training myself to sometimes skip ahead, but still I have to go back and read in order - I have to have some order :-) It is better for me on website as what I have read changes colour and I am able to keep track easily - if I had the posts sent via email I would freak and be overwhelmed - has happened before - I cannot handle too many emails - if I wake up to find a load of emails I am overwhelmed. I think I may have caught up on the posts now :-) although I have had to skim over some fairly rapidly - brains not quite with it - I am shattered. I am sad to see Lwaxy has left though :-( > > Aha! Guest guest
I just read them in the order they come up in the emails. Usually they are in order, but sometimes they get shuffled.

Guest guest
n, Hi. Welcome to the forum. Sorry you had to arrive when we were all suffering a bit of turmoil. My hope is that all of us have gotten everything out of our system, and that we can move on. We may be able to get Lwaxy to come back after a while. In the meantime, I really would appreciate it if you stuck around and got to know us better. Tom Administrator --- >It is better for me on website as what I have read changes colour and I am able to keep track easily Toni> Yes, thank goodness for the color changes on the forum or I would be totally lost. By shattered do you mean sad? Not that its any of my business. I feel bad that Lwaxy left too. What she said in her last post was really sad about not fitting in anywhere. If you take the antibiotics, you will probably want to eat some yogurt while you are taking them. That will help put back the good bacteria in your intestines that the medicine will kill. Also read an article last week that said eating yogurt regularly has been shown to help protect against the common cold, so it probably helps boost the immune system. Fortunately my mum has brought me some pain killers and done a bit of shopping and housework for me, of which I am very gratefull for given the way I feel. > > > In a message dated 3/23/2006 2:27:28 AM Eastern Standard Time, > julie.stevenson16@... writes: > > By shattered I meant tired - I have ear infection - it seems to be a > bad one - I've woke up feeling very lousy today and I've run out of > pain killers :-( > > > > > > I well remember such things. Guest guest
--- Toni> So sorry to hear you have an earache. They are so painful! By the way, thanks to all for welcoming n (my son) he had been looking at the forum and I didn't log him out and *I* replied. Hopefully since he is interested he may participate soon. I think it would be very good for him to 'know' other aspies besides his twin brother. , I hope your earache gets better soon.(I just said a prayer for you, I hope you don't mind )Toni In , " greebohere " <julie.stevenson16@...> wrote: > > By shattered I meant tired - I have ear infection - it seems to be a > bad one - I've woke up feeling very lousy today and I've run out of > pain killers :-( > > > > > > > > > --- >It is better for me on website as what I have read changes > > colour and > > I am able to keep track easily Toni> Yes, thank goodness for the > > color changes on the forum or I would be totally lost. The above works only if you eat the kind of yogurt that has live cultures (read the label). Many yogurts don't have live cultures in them, and amount basically to flavored and sugared milk solids. Guest guest
I think after prolonged debate, Aspies tend to need to go back and gather their energies before resuming normal conversation. It's sort of like waking up and thinking: " Hey! What happened? Where the heck am I? We're not in Kansas anymore Toto! Boy do I need to go back to sleep! Guest guest
Hi Toni - I can't speak for anyone else, but I absolutely have to have downtime after social interaction. It's simply too much stimulation, too much stress, too much to think about. If I were a character in a video game, you would be able to see my energy stores being depleted by each interaction and then being replenished by downtime. Of course, teenagers are so busy just dealing with their own biology it's amazing how much they get accomplished, isn't it? I'm so glad not to be at the mercy of my teenage hormones anymore! Now, I'm just hoping my female hormones don't make their exit as dramatic as their entrance... ;-) Jill >
Guest guest
Each year I go to the Smokies to hibernate for 16 days after a year of stress. I also take weekend getaways for the same reason. I also do need the downtime that n needs after a regular workday. What do the rest of you all have to say? Tom Administrator Which kinda reminds me of a question I wanted to ask... Guest guest
Thank you for answering that, Jill.It seems like when the boys hit puberty is when things really started getting more difficult for them. Socially, depression OCD etc. I wonder if any studies have been done regarding hormones and the worsening of aspergers and all the issues that go with it? I hope your hormones don't exit like mine. I had a hysterectomy because I had migraines 15-20 times a month and BOY oh BOY those hotflashes are something else! But, I'll take them over being in bed half a month anytime. Guest guest
Wow, Toni, how awful for you! Are you done with all that, now? And to be raising twins, too...yikes...I don't know about hormones and Aspergers but I do know that my epilepsy didn't kick in until I hit puberty. Definitely a stress-filled time that I would never want to live through again. Childhood, yes. Puberty, never. Guest guest
Eerrrrrrrrrr speaking for myself definitely. I see same in my son too. Even if I enjoy the socialising it still whacks me out - it does seem easier with aspies though - well most of the time :-) > > > > Thanks, yes, things seemed to have calmed down. We both need to get away from all sensory input after many hours of social interaction. When I was a touring as a musician and musical director, once the gig was done, I would hide out in my room (which was MY room and I never shared with anyone else) while everyone else went out socializing some more (whether it was a house party, hanging out at the local coffee shop or something else). After powering down, I would work on arrangements or new songs or something along those lines, working easily until 6 AM before going to bed (back up at the crack of Flintstones for rehearsals and such). Cub is very much this way, needing a nap when he comes home from any social activity that drains his resources, so he can recharge his batteries.
