Guest guest
Norah, you are in my thoughts and prayers, and you are very brave. Guest guest
Thank you Tim and , I really needed that... I woke up all in tears at the fact that he just might reject me... and i know I did the right thing but it's hard not knowing what the other person is thinking.... My sister and a friend of mine doesn't see it as a really big deal... They think it's like telling the person you have a cold... but for me it's HUGE... My sister was like Well when I get married I have to tell him I have diabetes (sp) I was like Sorry sis that doesn't compare to HCV.... Since not that many people know of it and the Medical field pretty mark it up as an STD... When it's not... telling someone that doesn't fully know of it... would reject me faster then they'll reject you... So it's something really hard to swollow.... I swear sometimes I feel like I am alone with this... In the beginnig when we (he and I)first started talking I blocked it out...and try to pretend that it's not there but the more in depth we got the more it came to the front the more I felt I had to tell him... Knowing that in the end just might be the end for us... Last person I told he was like " I'm not that strong " and I was like " Huh....All I want is support... that's it " Honestly I think anyone with any type of disease would want that... Just support... Funny think is that I don't have any other illness or disease.. Other then the Hep C I am a healthy cow...LOL to the point that when I visit my MD I swear they take my liver test just to humor me...LOL I was suppose to have Biopsy done but it never happened... WHY? Because my Doctor at the time said it wasn't needed... But maybe when I am older... My GYN (sorry tim) Doctor on the other hand loves to remind me of it -like drilling a knife in my liver... and I want to be like " Well you shut up... your a GYN Doctor not mg PCP nor a HEM MD so please save your internet research for someone else " I wrote him (my fiance) and explian how I felt about telling him (sad scared and worried) But in the end I said That's all part of me. It's part of what makes me who I am... And that now he knows everything about me... illness and all... Haven't heard from him but then again he usally gets back to me by the end of the week or well have our thursday night/ weekend chats... I just wish he would respond like NOW... > > > > Hey all, > > > > > > Yup I told my fiance in an email about my Hep C. > > > > and nowit's just a wait and see I guess... Guest guest
Well I guess you can say he's a keeper... LOL he wrote me back and he said I shouldn't be afriad to tell him anything and that anyone with an illness be it big or small they are amongst Gods favorite.. He was very happy and pleased that I told him and said that he views me very highly... (whatever that means) His only concern is making love and having children oh ya and kissing...LOL I told him that chances of me transmitting it to him and my child and very slim to none... 1 out of 100. And I mentioned you guys... I said I know quite a few people taht are married and have kids... and their spouse nor thier child have been infected with the Hep C... I told him the only way a person can really reall get it is blood to blood..... or using an unclean razor and getting cut- which is gross... He's sweet " Would I get it if we kiss? " I was like No you can't get it if you kiss me nor if we share a drink or a meal... I let him know that my friends and I share meals and drinks all the time and none of them get it... I am happy that he's open to learn more about it... He's aware of the Hep C but he said he wants to know more about it from me!!! I took that little sentence to heart because it shows that he's again open but not about just take and listen to just anyone... Instead he came to me a person that has it... I even told him in a worse case.. say he does get it or our baby gets it... It's nothing really deadly... it's not some flesh eating disease... It's not a STD or Cancer... and let him know that I have had it for 28 years and I am health and ok...We don't drink so that's a good thing...theres nothing to really worry about... just get tested and have your liver monitored... I am glad I told him and I am ALL SMILES at his response.. > > > > Hey all, > > > > > > Yup I told my fiance in an email about my Hep C. > > > > and nowit's just a wait and see I guess... Guest guest
Norah, A biopsy does NOT feel like a knife drilling going into your liver! Why would a doctor say that?! barely felt mine. The most " painful " part of mine (aside from the bill - ouch!) is the waiting - waiting for the results, waiting to see the doctor to discuss the next step. I am like you, healthy as a cow..except for the scourge. Just stay strong, you sound like you're doing fine. > > > > > > Hey all, > > > > > > > > > Yup I told my fiance in an email about my Hep C. > > > > > > and nowit's just a wait and see I guess... Guest guest
SO PROUD OF YOU FOR TELLING HIM, WHAT A RELIEF. MY QUESTION NOW IS ARE YOU GOING TO HAVE HIM WITH YOU FOR TREATMENT. HE SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT PERSON BUT TREATMENT WILL CHANGE YOU BOTH, UNLESS YOU GET LUCKY AND DON'T HAVE BAD SIDE EFFECTS. I PRAY IT GOES WELL AND THAT YOU AND ALL OF US BEAT THIS THING. NOW YOU NEW LOVE BIRDS CAN LEARN ABOUT THIS TOGETHER AND HAVING SUPPORT IS A BIG PART OF IT. YOU WILL ALSO HAVE TO EDUCATE YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND I KNOW HOW HARD THAT IS, ESPECIALLY IF YOU YOUR SELF ARE NOT SURE OF THE ANSWERS. I'M LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE THE SUPPORT OF A GREAT GUY AND WE WERE ONLY LIVING TOGETHER FOR 3 YEARS WHEN I WAS DIAGNOSED. THAT WAS IN 2001, I JUST STARTED TREATMENT THIS YEAR. BECAUSE I WAS SCARED, BUT THIS WEB SITE AND A GOOD DOCTOR IS MY SUPPORT. THE MORE YOU LEARN THE LESS YOU HAVE TO FEAR. I HAVE ABOUT 4 OR 5 MONTHS LEFT OF MY 48 WEEKS OF TREATMENT, AND WILL DO ANOTHER 48 IF THATS WHAT IT TAKES. JUST BE STRONG WE ARE ALL HERE FOR YA CONGRATS Dnorah2386 <norah2386@...> wrote: Yup yupTold him that too...What disease can one get through siliva?I must say I love being in this group.... Guest guest
THATS AWESOME Norah! Sounds like you have a 'clone' of MY husband! He has been amazing through all of this,, I got diagnosed at our 1 year anniversary! He learned everything he could, drove me to every doc appt, every lab draw and took care of the house, the cooking, the laundry, just everything while I was on tx! So keep educating him as you learn too,, it will keep your relationship solid! Im so happy for ya! jaxnorah2386 <norah2386@...> wrote: Yup yupTold him that too...What disease can one get through siliva?I must say I love being in this group....
