I'm hoping some of you may be able to help me here. We were about to put an

offer in on a home near and just found out there is plans for a power

plant to be built about 2 miles NE of the home. Without me spending hours on the

web researching this info. can anyone tell me if this could have major affects

on planting a large garden and raising animals on the property? We love the home

and the property and it's actually in our price range (a harder find than we

thought, especially for the amount of land, which is 7 acres and includes a

decent amount of woods to hunt on). We want to work toward being more self

sufficient.

I have been reading this site - http://stopsunriseriverplant.com/

What would other people do? Any time you move out you are going to run into the

potential of not knowing your future " neighbor " because any company can buy any

land they want with enough money. This happened to land by my parents horse farm

in Ohio. A landfill was put in, right on top of a fresh water aquifer only a

couple miles from their place. The landfill company had to have all kinds of

laws changed to make it happen, but they of course were able to do it even with

the citizens apposing it.

In the end I don't want to put my family in an unsafe place and I know this

isn't ideal (if I lived there or knew anything about it before today I'd of been

fighting it every bit that I could) but at the same time I also have to look at

affordability, location, home, land, etc. Any advice and recommendations would

be much appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Therese A.
