Guest guest
I have my doubts about the McCartney's claims after they messed up horribly in Canada earlier this month with their " poor seal pups " campaign. They were photographed lying on the snow with a seal pup between the two of them. They were interviewed by print and broadcast media and they went on and on and on about the clubbing of seal pups. There was one small problem though. There hasn't been a seal pup hunt in Canada in over a generation. Baby seal pups are not killed. And the seal population is one of the reasons we now had depleted cod fish stocks. Guest guest
Go figure! I never heard Mccartney's music and if It played on the radio, it didn't make an impression. on may have had 1 or 2 good songs after the breakup. Ringo Starr got nowhere. Lennon was the mastermind from what I hear. McCartney reminded me of someone who stole parts of ballads from popular artists of the day like a copy/paste function in a sound database and then wrote hollow, politically correct, typically romantic sounding words to the dead music and so forth. I wish he, Rod , Underwood, Neville, and Britney Spears (just to name a few) would be shipped off to Pluto so the rest of the Greedy performers forget about being in the spotlight for anything other than their music. ravenmagic2003 <ravenmagic2003@...> wrote: I have my doubts about the McCartney's claims after they messed up horribly in Canada earlier this month with their "poor seal pups" campaign. Guest guest
While I agree that McCartney is indeed sickening I can't agree with what you said about the seals. There are estimated to be 150,000 or so seals around Canada (no certain estimate available), there are approx. 32 million people in Canada. Who is more likely to be eating the most fish? Even if we were to kill off all these few seals, and even if half of Canada never ate cod, cod stocks will continue to reduce until responsible fishing policies are introduced. In my personal view, I could never believe that everything is just there for humans to eat or kill as they like. Cod stocks are not just there for us, they are there for the whole world including seals and other fish. I personally have not eaten cod, plaice or haddock since I found out they were endangered species. There are plenty of other types of fish, and fish farming is a viable, responsible, sustaining technique (profit- making as well for the capitalists among us), and the seals wouldn't be able to get at them so no need to kill them. It saddens me that soon there will be nothing left through humans global-warming etc etc. I have no legal proof of the last seal hunt due to the Canadians updating that bit of their website at the moment, but here is a link that says there was one in 2001. http://www.ifaw.org/ifaw/dfiles/file_95.pdf Amy > ravenmagic2003 <ravenmagic2003@...> wrote: > I have my doubts about the McCartney's claims after they messed up > horribly in Canada earlier this month with their " poor seal pups " > campaign. Guest guest
Our Green Party (which I voted for) got into a favorable negotiation situation with the government and was able to make them put strict limit on cod fishing around Sweden. My fish fingers are now made of some other fish (that actually tastes better and is easier to chew). :-) Inger Re: Cat & dog fir petition While I agree that McCartney is indeed sickening I can't agree with what you said about the seals. Guest guest
His wife. She was a model before she married him and still is I think. When two famous people get married, the woman will often use her maiden name professionally. Saw that all the time when I was voluntering with a profesional theatre company-union rules had a lot to do with it, no two people could have the same exact name so you got and L.
