Guest guest
Being overweight does NOT make you LESS likely to have side effects,, but it does make you less likely to be successful so if you can lose some of the weight before you do tx, it can increase your odds of success... most ppl DO lose hair but not all of it,, usually it just thins out alot! and No,, not everyone needs procrit but a majority of us do,, there is NO way to know for sure what or how you will react!us4heavenbound@... wrote: I was just wondering if not everyone gets hair loss, or needs procrit? Guest guest
well you 'may' be eating too much starchy and sugary foods that can raise the insulin level and that can and does cause you to gain weight. are you getting enough protein? low fat protein?us4heavenbound@... wrote: well the loosing of weight for me before tx is kinda too late for that..and since I am gaining while on tx..I am not sure what to do...I am going to a dietician tomorrow for some advice..will see..thanks geri Jackie
Guest guest
It will take a big paradigm shift for many (it sure did for me), but the foods that are recommended in the " Hep C Help Book " by Misha Ruth Cohen (a TCM practitioner) and Dr. Gish (an esteemed liver specialist in SF, CA) are now the staples of my diet. The dietary suggestions in the book are geared toward fatigue relief, detoxification and just overall health, but I have lost about 12 lbs in the past 2 months by following their suggestions. I have lots more energy as well. There are recipes in the book, and I am not much of a chef, so I can tell you they are easy to make. or I just go to the organic food market and health food store (Mother's Market in CA makes great tofu dishes). The book overall is great, and for people like me who are combining Western (conventional) treatment and CAM (including Traditional Chinese Medicine), this is THE book to own. Some of the TCM stuff is hard to follow at the beginning, but if you are seeing a TCM practitioner or acupuncturist, they can explain a lot of it. I am a former junk food junkie, but I WANT TO NOT ONLY LIVE, BUT LIVE WELL. So, I have learned to LOVE healthy food. well the loosing of weight for me before tx is kinda too late for that..and since I am gaining while on tx..I am not sure what to do...I am going to a dietician tomorrow for some advice..will see..thanks geri > > > > > > > > > Jackie >
Guest guest
well fresh fruits and salads are just fine,, but you need to eat some protein,, what about low fat cheese, cottage cheese, even some yogurts have protein in them. get some tofu if you can eat it, cook some chicken and then you can nibble on it cold as you need it. You can also get some good protein poweder that you could supplement your diet with as well. Its so important that you get enough protein UNLESS you are having problems with ammonia and that is usually when you get to end stage liver disease,, I was told that the two most important things you can do for your liver is get enough protein and drink enough FILTERED water... I dont know,,, but I did BOTH and I DID clear even tho I was not supposed to... us4heavenbound@... wrote: In a message dated 11/14/2006 11:24:38 PM Central Standard Time, redjaxjm writes: are you getting enough protein? low fat protein?
