Have you got a sleep study done to see if you have sleep apnea?

Are you on antidepressants and have you tried Provigil?

Has your doctor checked your thyroid, testosterone, and adrenals?

Are you going to bed late?

Other wise I'm yawning all the time and have constant sleeping spells. So I've been Back and forth from the Shrink to the Endocrinologist. (They rotate endocrinologists),the last one I saworder an strogen test(?)witch was normal (like everything else). and became interested in my lumbar osteopenia. So I just go another bone density test.(havent got the results, after 1year of Fosamax D and exercise) But I will mention now"Mitocondrial Damage".On the other hand I'm in psychotherapi 3 times a week, and Ithink is got something to do with ANXIETY because I'm almost sure I have some triggers. and also has something to do with anold COPING MECHANISM, of disconnecting myself (witch would be axiety, right?).ANY ONE HERE HAS BEEN GOING TRU SOMETHING SIMILAR ? I JUST REFUSE TO BELIEVE THERE IS NO CURE FOR THIS...EVEN WHEN THEYALL SAY IS NORMAL, WITH THE VIRUS OR THE MEDS(Kaletra,Viread, Epzicom). Hi, . As someone who was essentially disabled by extreme fatigue for several years, I can really appreciate what you are going through. The extreme fatigue also led to extreme depression, and fatigue and depression feed on each other. If you have not done any of the following, I would suggest that you do so ASAP.

(1) It is estimated that about 30% of POZ guys are also infected with hepatitis C. Hep C is known to result in extreme chronic fatigue in some people. If you haven't been tested for hep C (HCV), you need to do that right away. If you turn out to be positive for chronic hep C, there is a treatment (brutal in itself) that has about a 30% success rate in ridding the body of the hep C virus.

(2) Have you had a sleep study done recently? You might have sleep apnea. I have it, and my fatigue is gone because I now use a custom oral appliance that moves my jaw slightly forward when I sleep and prevents my airways from collapsing. With the lifting of the fatigue the depression has also disappeared.

I assume that you have had your free testosterone and thyroid levels checked. It is essential that those be in the normal to high normal range in HIV poz people. Low values of either of these can lead to chronic fatigue.

As you say, anger is a great mobilizer, but it can't by itself overcome chronic fatigue.

If any of these turn out to be responsible for your fatigue, and you can then get the fatigue resolved, you can buy me a hot pastrami sandwich at the Carnegie Deli. <G> And be sure to share that experience with the rest of us.

If none of these is the cause of your fatigue, stay angry and push your physicians to dig deeper until they find out what is going on and can resolve it.

This is what happened to me only. Your experience may vary. Years

ago, I had pretty much the same thing. Even after 12 hours of sleep, I

was still tired and wanted to sleep about 20 hours a day. What I

started to do was take vitamin C. I had read that if you have

sufficient vitamin C, you will get diarrhea. I started taking a gram

(1000 mg) every 4 or 5 hours. No diarrhea. I started taking 2 grams

every 4 or 5 hours. No diarrhea. To make a long story short, I got up

to 48 grams a day before I started to get an intestinal reaction (this

is apparently a very high dose). It wasn't until then that something

changed. It was very subtle, as if a dam broke or something. I had to

start weaning myself off the high C dose since you don't want to go

cold turkey or you can start to exhibit signs of scurvy. About a month

later, I had pretty much normal energy and if I try to take more than

one gram of C now, I get instant diarrhea. I figure there was some

underlying infection I was fighting that the C helped with. Hope this

helps.

Hi, . This one is easy. Get a blood glucose monitor and test your blood sugar levels upon waking, during the day, and before going to bed. If your fasting blood sugar is above 125, you need to see your doc right away. You can get the meter for free from some companies and some drug stores. You can buy the meters in virtually any drug store. The test strips are way too expensive, but most health insurance will cover most of the costs of the strips and probably the cost of a meter as well.

If you are unusually thirsty much of the time and drink a lot of water (and urinate a lot), that can be a sign of high blood sugar due to diabetes. Since at least half the diabetics in the US are unaware of their condition, it is a good idea to either rule it out or to get treated for it if tests show that you have it.

Thank you guys for sharing, defenetly got a couple of lead

I'd like to try.

An also I've been tested every year for Hep C, I'm vaccinated

for " A " & " B " since the 90's. And yes all my free

testosterone, tyrod, are good , but I didn't know there are

diferent values for HIVers. CVC (or something like that)are good

too , my sugar results come always good (fasting), I did spend

a whole nite at the " SLEEP LAB " , and they told me didn't find

anything unusual. (even when they said I woke-up 21 times).I go

to bed by 9.30pm because no metter what I wake-up @ 5am

sometimes even 3am. (witch may be anxiaty). I don't know what

" ADRENALS " is, but I'll ask them to check them.

And I guess I'll have to go back to the Neurologist to get to

order the MRI for " HERPES ZOSTER " , OR CHICKEN POX IN MY BRAIN.

I'm not sure how to find out if I'm crashing on HYPO OR

HYPERGLYSEMIA?

But the best part is that you guys are so encouraging.

And I really thank you for that too.

I'll keep you guys posted about this slow and long journey..
