, please be careful with Black Cohosh, it can be very liver toxic!!! IF you are going to look at Hormones, make sure you do the BioIdentical hormones, you can read about them in Suzanne Sommers book.. I used a plant estrogen called Menest and then also used PURE Progesterone orally.. I only used them for a year and now its been since June 2000 that I had my last period ( sorry guys, I know, not something you need ot hear about but its something we women DO have to deal with along with the hep).. There IS a time when the body stops making hormones and its a natural part of aging,, I BELIEVE,, Im thinking about readint Suzanne Sommers book myself as I seem to be having more problems with other aging symptoms and IM wondering if it might help... but I'd still be very careful with Black Cohosh...rachel <DreamWoven@...> wrote: I had kept all menopausal symptoms pretty much at bay prior to tx withthe use of some natural products (EstroySoy plus Black Cohash).... and Icontinued to take it during tx. When I came off of tx I got hit like aton of bricks. Thought I was losing my mind... the depression, lack ofsleep, night sweats, cold chills, pure craziness, etc., is what Iexpected during tx, not after.....It has somewhat been alleviated with Progesterone Cream (and theacupuncture and chinese herbs) but I am still not right.Anyone have any info or stories they'd like to share about this?

Orwhere I might look for info regarding how to get my hormones back inbalance.....?Jackie

Be careful following the Sommers book; what she recommends may not be

suitable for everyone and I hear you should review it carefully with

your doctor first!

I can't remember what her book is called but Ill try to find it and then post it... There ARE studies that show women respond better to treatment before menopause because of the hormones,,, but I still would NEVER take Premarin or prempro,, pregnant horse urine is NOT for me,, lolrachel <DreamWoven@...> wrote: Jackie... i wasnt really going to look at "hormones" per se. thats awful nikki,,, I took a product called Menest, it was a plant phytoestrogen and had NOTHING to do with any animal hormone... but because you have had hormone related breast cancer, you are right NOT to use it in any form... I thought it was amazing how so many docs just hand this stuff out without even thinking about it,, but I suppose its because the drug pharmies tell em its safe and push it with all the encentives they have an doffer to the docs to write scripts of THEIR drugs.... MY DOC actually appologized to me for pushing me for more than a year to use HRT... I refused for more than a year,,but I did give in when he came up with a natural plant estrogen,,, which I only used for a year,,, I still have some hot flashes and its been more than 6 years since I've had a menstrual cycle... but I'd rather have the hot flashes than get a cancer... God Bless ya honey!Nikki Cowan <nikkicowan@...> wrote: I know how you feel, , and I haven’t done TX. I've been in menopause for some years now, but have more trouble with symptoms now than then. Don't know if the tx did that or not. I recently stopped taking hormones, they did not keep the symptoms at bay and am going cold turkey til it allll passes. I DID take Black Cohosh til my doc told me it may have an effect on the liver and now I take nothing. I so surely hope things level out soon. I'm 63 and had a hysterectomy at 32 and have been battling one thing or another since then. arrgghh!! It's NOT fun getting old. well I'd get some wild yam cream and use that for the hot flashes etc, it really does help,, but you have to know how much to use,, you can overuse it too.. but it gives you the progesterone and that helps to balance out your hormonesSharon Crosby <blubirdxoxo@...> wrote: I've been in menopause for some years now, but have more trouble with symptoms now than then. you can get it an any health food store,, progesterone creme,, it reallyhelps too,, but just watch for products that contain valarian and black cohosh,, they are both bad for the liver and the people working in the HFS might not be aware of that and might try to sell you something that has one of those in it,,Sharon Crosby <blubirdxoxo@...> wrote: Wild yam cream!!
