Ally, Are you doing Pegysis or Peg Intron? I swore when I was on tx that 'some' of the shots kicked my butt while others felt like I had injected water, it was weird.. but yes, I had the same thing,, I was using Peg Intron,,,Ally <4thMoon@...> wrote: Okay, I have a question or rather a situation. I do my shot Friday

morning. I felt okay the rest of the week. Then I took my shot yesterday morning again, friday. Well, after about an hour I started feeling bad. Then it hit me about 11am. I started having hot and cold chills all day, was very, very nautious and had a splitting headache, ugh, wanted to die, couldn't do anything but lie on the couch. This morning everything seems to be gone except the headache for which I took a few tylonol. Yesterday I would have taken some tylonol to help but was actually too sick to get off the couch. So... I am on Week 30. Does this sort of thing start happening later in treatment like this? Or is this even treatment related? Could this be a fluke or am I finally getting all the harsh side effects that people normally get earlier? Is what I experienced consistent with typical side effects of the meds? Really, I guess only time will tell like what happens next Friday and the Friday

after that. I've heard time and again that Treatment gets worse as you go along but I just didn't think it would happen to me because everything was going so well. I even skipped going to the gym this morning, sigh, which for me is unheard of, lol. Thanks for listening... Ally Jackie

I'm on the Pegysis. What is the difference between the two? I never heard of Pen Intron till I came to this group.

My knowledge is limited, but I believe there are two different drug companies and also some doctors prefer one treatment over the other- Pegysis vs Peg-Intron depending on Genotype type and all.. Well, I did a little looking and apparently the studies they have done so far have been biased toward Peg-Intron but there is a big study happening right now that will be finished in 2007 to see which one is more effective:

http://www.hivandhepatitis.com/hep_c/news/2005/012405_a.html

The biased studies showed that Peg-Intron was more. The big difference between the two is:

that Pegasys is a more bulky branched molecule than Peg-Intron; Pegasys has a molecular mass of 40 kilodaltons (kDa), compared with 12 kDa for Peg-Intron. In general, they noted, Peg-Intron has a larger volume of distribution and higher renal clearance than Pegasys. Typically, Peg-Intron is dosed based on body weight, while Pegasys is administered as a flat dose.

Thanks for the tip of googling it. I should have thought of that but wasn't thiking because of being too tired, lol, ah well, such as life. That's what's great about this group. A bunch of minds are far better then one alone!

Each person tolerates treatment differently , and for some the sides don't hit until late . Mine hit in my 14th week while I was on the Peg/Riba but when I was on infergen they hit the second day . Or you could just be coming down with the flu , it is the season . I hope you feel better soon .

OH my you were not feeling good...to tell you the truth I go through periods of different things..I will feel fine, then feel like crud. I felt ok last week, the week before I had a head ache. Today I am feeling awful. I dont want to move, and my head is starting to hurt, and I have a mild cough. I am going to drink lots of water today. We went to the movies yesterday and sat through two of them, and drank diet cokes. I feel like I am dehydrated. And then my sons birthday was yesterday so I had two pieces of choc cake..which is probally not good..The thought of going anywhere today is just uck...the worse part is that I am not tired so I lay on the couch and just suffer..if I could sleep it would be fine. Maybe you should take some pain meds before your shot. That seems to help me with headaches..which are really neck aches..I changed to 3 riba twice a day and to Peg Intron 3 weeks ago..so I chaulk it up to that..I feel like I did when I first started months ago..good luck..geri

Yeah, I think I am going to start doing this. I haven't had to up till now but it sounds like a good plan to implement...

Ally, That happened to me, don't remember how far in to treatment I was but the nurse I saw each month figured I had the flu. I understand that tx makes everything worse. I was sick enough to stop tx for 2 weeks and then start again. Maybe that's why I relapsed??? Sharon, I WOULD BET that THAT IS THE REASON you relapsed,, why didnt your doc give you meds to control the symptoms? Thats really sad!!! There were weekends I felt just tired....other

weekends I wished death would have swept over me and

get it over with.

Some people do end up with bad symptoms up to the very

end. I did. 34 weeks into treatment and I was loosing

my vision; I developed cotton wool spots. And 8 weeks

before end of treatment, I was developing a cardiac

reaction to the PegIntron. Also went through the other

stuff throughout: vomiting, chills, rigors, dizziness,

and migraine headaches.

I got my eyesight back and the cardiac pains stopped

after treatment ended.

I stuck it out the full 48 weeks and glad I did.

Hang in there, you are more than half way there. Don't

give up.

Once you are done, within 2-3 weeks, you feel human

again. I was an absolute couch and bed potato the full

course of treatment. Within 4 weeks after completing

treatment, I'm walking and exercise workouts.

Gav

The day you end treatment is the first day of the rest

of your life. Make the most of it.
