Guest guest
The vast majority of drugs continue to be fully potent long after the expiration date. There are some exceptions - for example, nitroglycerin pills (as opposed to sublingual nitro spray). Nitroglycerin tends to be chemically unstable. Most drugs are far more stable, particularly if you haven't subjected them to temperature extremes. I have used both Testim and Androgel more than a year after the stamped expiration and my labs came back showing high levels of T. I have Xanax which was prescribed for me to take 3 times a day after a heart attack, which I found not appealing. However, I have needed it on rare occasions. It remains fully active six years later. I would not throw your drugs away. With HIV drugs I might be more cautious on principle, because you don't want to risk any chance of resistance developing, but I doubt HIV meds kept in good condition would not be fully potent for at least several months after the expiry date. The expiry date is a very conservative estimate of shelf life. In most cases, drugs are potent even a decade later.
