Guest guest
When someone asked for advice about their son with religion, that was fine to offer help. I didn't consider it so much a religion topic as I did a request for help. However no matter how you look at it, it's still a discussion on religion. I also want to stress, when discussing evangelists or others on this list by name, what you say you may consider facts, but it's opinions and hearsay without evidence to back it up. When talking to a child about religion, especially a disabled child, it gets very tricky. There are good and bad out there when it comes to anything, not just religion. My point was how would you teach a child to determine who is real and who isn't? How would you even come to that conclusion, becausee they ask for money? You work a job and get payed. The autism society asks for donations and money as well as many other organizations. So are they fake or bad? It takes money to help people and run a broadcast. It takes quite a bit to even turn one of those camera on. When a topic such as religion comes on a list it can become very contrversial and cause many problems. I don't want that happening here. That was my point. Also a post came through I was moderating that started out with Moderator read your Bible. It got erased by mistake before I actually read it. I just wanted to clarify to that person, I do read my Bible. I was raised in church. My Dad was a pastor, not on tv I may add. So I know the Bible. I happen to be a christian and what is in a person's heart is not for me to judge. I have gone to church and heard people speak I did not agree with but I did not point fingers and right away assume they were bad. There are many ways one can interpret the Bible. Everyone on this list can read the same verse and interpret it differently. But because we would look at it comnpletely different doesn't make any of us bad. It's important to let a child explore. Explain how you feel about the subject and let them make up their own minds. You don't have to teach them to question every thing they hear or go around trying to prove someone wrong or right. I respect everyones belief and there are many things I agree and disagree with. This list is about support not offending anyone. I am sure that tv preachers do get a bad rap and the ones that do wrong give the good ones a bad name. However the same can relate to many things. I started out by saying religion is a touchy subject. This is a support list. When I posted my email, I received many emails in the defensive mode. I rest my case.
