Guest guest
Elvira: Chelation is a process of using chemical agents (most commonly DMSA and Alpha Lipoic Acid, or ALA) to bind to the mercury and heavy metals in the body, afterwhich they are slowly excreted out, via urine and feces. You may wish to join the listserv and read the " FAQ " section on that site to more thoroughly understand this process, and the chelation protocol that is currently being used to detoxify children with mercury toxicity. Guest guest
Well, I don't know if your question is being monitored and denied for some reason, but I will certainly answer it again. Chelation is a method for detoxifying and removing certain toxins from the body, such as lead, mercury, arsenic, antimony, tin, aluminum, among others. Chief chelating agents include DMSA (succimer, Chemet), DMPS, and ALA (alpha-lipoic acid). If anyone would like more information, you may e-mail directly. Guest guest
Hi, Leah: Chelation is administered via iv; an infusion that takes several hours. The basic mixture is EDTA (ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid), a synthetic amino acid. Although it was developed to help remove heavy metals from the system by forming complexes with them, apparently it can also remove arterial plaque. I have used it to eliminate arthritic flares with moderate success; it seems to have some antioxidant equivalent properties.
