Guest guest
Name: Albrecht Location: Mundelein, IL (suburb of Chicago) PID Pumpkin: , age 7, polysaccharide antibody def Diagnosed at age 12 months with multiple deficiencies: low IgG, absent IgA, low IgM, partial t-cell deficits, abnormal antibody responses to Prevnar, HiB, polio. At age two, her IgG was up to low 500s, IgM normal, IgA low but THERE, still low responses to polysaccharides plus abs would drop off over time. HiB dropped again but came up when boosted again. At age three, IgG in 600s, IgM and IgA NORMAL. Still low/dropping-off abs to polysaccharides. Now at age 7, still low abs to Prevnar and Menactra (new conjugated meningococcal vaccine), but suddenly doing VERRRRRRY well, clinically. ????? Ours is not to question why, ours is but to take it and run!!! Never had any treatment except abx for infections. Additional Health Concerns: Dairy intolerance-related GERD... but she seems to be outgrowing it!!! Side Note: When nearly died of pneumococcal meningitis at 6 months old, we were told she was at significant risk for learning disabilities and that we were crazy lucky she didn't have brain damage. At age 7, she has just been recommended for the gifted program! We are over the moon. Other info: Sister Kate (age 3) is healthy as an ox, but more dairy-intolerant.
