Guest guest
Dr. Kaufman, My son who is 4.5 years old had the Kaufman Speech Praxis Test. I'm including his results and hope you can provide some more explanation and what my next actions should be. I'm considering getting the Kauman Speech Praxis Kit to work with him on but not sure if I would know what to do with it. He receives speech 3x's a week 30 min sessions 2 group and one private. Any insight you can give me would be appreciated. on the oral motor section received a standard score of 36. He does exhibit some areas of oral weakness in the tongue and lips but he does not exhibit difficulty moving speech musculature on command , difficulty initiating movement , or oral scanning or grouping during attempts to execute oral movement which are consistent with oral motor apraxia. on part two demonstrated few errors and received a standard score of 79 on part three produced numerous errors and received a standard score of 82 On part four received a score of 3. his standard score was 93. s errors are consisitent with moderate to severe verbal dyspraxia. These include disintergration on parts 3 an d4 of the test resulting in a moderate to severe praxis disorder marked by excessive deletions, distortions of sound eroors exit, lenght or complexity factors cause the system to disintergrate contributing to unintelligiblity, inabilty to perform oral diadochokinsis, inconsistent, off-target attemps on words of increased length or complexity and better production of single words than longer utterances. If you need more info please let me know. Thank you for all your help Robyn
Guest guest
Robyn, I just had my 3.2 year old son evaluated by Dr, Kaufman as well, but haven't received the written results yet. He is going for his OT evaluation next Monday. Dr. Kaufman was very impressive with a straight, no nonsense attitude which I like. She suggests we explore medication for my son's behavior which initially scared the heck out of me. Before I embark down that path, I am also taking him to Dr. Youngs to see what other alternatives we have. After I get his evaluation back, I'll let you know how he made out. --- Robyn <mysticcreek@...> wrote: > Dr. Kaufman, > > My son who is 4.5 years old had the Kaufman > Speech Praxis Test.
