Subject: Update on and Mono

Well after our weekend in the er-the infectious disease doctor insisted on

seeing us today-even on a non-clinic day! He feels that has mono for

sure, but also more than likely a secondary strep infection and some type of

infection from a tick-not lyme or rocky mountain spotted fever. The test

for it takes lots of blood-and 3 weeks to get back-so we are treating

without the test. She is now on two different antibiotics. He also tested

her immune stuff-just because she is Maddie's sister! We left there feeling

very reassured. He also felt that we will probably need to get her into

some physical therapy to help regain some of the strength she has lost due

to the secondary infection.

So-I am feeling relieved-she feels relieved-and things are looking up!

Becky in IN-mom to Maddie, IgA def, low IgG, gerd, asthma, milk

allergy....and the mono wonder!

I am glad your dr is aggressively pursuing answers! I am glad that you are

feeling reassured and hope that will soon be feeling stronger.

, ('s age, had mono...) will have her PT assessment Thursday with a

great group that she worked with when she had tendonitis...I think it is good

to help them retain as much strength as they are able. Friday is the

rheumatologist at UCLA. Terri directed me to the IDF website today, where I

read about the prevalence of autoimmune diseases in those with Sel IgA and CVID

....they think this might fit amanda. Aside from a sinus retentions cyst, he now

is convinced there is yet another underlying cause to her leg pain and

headache...(he was able to get her headaches about 80% improved but he expected

more).

I don't know if sarah would ever want to chat on line - amanda is tends to be

quiet and doesn't like to talk about being sick, but maybe they could find

something so share...

my best to becky and sarah...
