I haven't read all the emails from yesterday at all. So please don't think I am ignoring you. I have to do my last research paper for school. Then I can read the emails. But I wanted to let you all know I have good news to share. I spoke with a AWESOME advocate from WI FACETS. First of all there is reasonable grounds that I can call in a independent evaluation. During the first evaluation there was conflicting information for one. The speech teacher is the one who filled out the Gillian Rating scale. It should have went to his teacher. The speech teacher is comparing my son to someone who has severe autism and I tell you that is getting on my last nerve. But what amazing is I finally got my papers back from the neuro pysch yesterday. She is keeping the diagnosis of High Functioning Autism. She stated in the papers that she is highly recommeding the school to consider looking at the autism as the problem in school not ADHD as she said that would be detrimental to Dakota because of his issues and social issues. So I have some leverage there. Right now they have him under OHI. And I found out the school has the right to not let Dakota's therapists in the school. HOWEVER they SHOULD be providing him a aid then even though he isn't low functioning. I also found out and I asked my doctor yesterday when I took Dakota in, I said is it try that kids on the spectrum are sicker then normal kids because of stress and anxiety and she said yes she has heard that. Well my doctor is putting something in writing stating she is aware of my child being sick a lot and that she agrees if he is ill he should be at home. That I will be contacting school and the doctor when he is home ill. Which I always call the doctors office and I talk to the nurse if I am not sure what to do or if he is sick to let them know as he has eppilepsy so we can track things. So every time he is sick it is documented. I can also state in the IEP that Dakota is sicker then most kids and maybe abscent a lot. Which I never knew I could. So I am learning things that I didn't even know existed. So yesterday I dropped off my request in writing to the principal, super intendent, case manager for the school district and the speech teacher who is the head of Dakota's IEP stating I want to schedule a independent evaluation for Dakota and I must hear form them by next Thursday which is the 8 I believe. The principal responded to me yesterday and I believe he will be calling the case manager or taking her copy up there. I found out school didn't get a copy of Dakota's findings yet. So Monday after school I will take the copies up there. I will make sure that the principal looks at them first and when I get the note from the doctor they will all get a copy again. I also found out that just because he is sick doesn't mean that we have to lower his speech time either. So that's my news. I am so sorry I wrote a book. But I am really so excited. I think things are going to work out fine. The advocate, I believe is also going to come to the IEP meeting. Which is awesome.
