Guest guest
My understanding from the book is that Dr. Stordy used Efalex by Nutricia in her studies. This is sold at GNC stores for $12.99. I believe this product has no connection to Attention Focus or Efalex Focus. Thanks. >From: " Janet " <beach73@...> >Reply- >< > >Subject: [ ] Difference in EFA's >Date: Tue, 18 Dec 2001 00:03:08 -0600 > >You can also check out http://www.efalexfocus.com/ Here is an excerpt from >that page: > > Products based on Dr. Stordy's research > Note to Efamol Efalex customers: The Efamol company has been >purchased by the Netherlands-based multi-national holding company Numica. >Unfortunatley, due to this change, the Efamol label of products is no >longer available. Guest guest
It was just a suggestion for similar alternatives. I originally was looking for Efalex and ending up getting Pro DHA from this site which is Seacoast Natural Foods. They have lot's of interesting articles and thorough descriptions of their products at that site.
Guest guest
How is your child doing on the ProDHA? My daughter is taking the ProEFA and though I have noticed changes and minute improvements, she has not experienced a surge like I was hoping for. So, ultimately I am looking for something else that may be of more help to her. Thank you >It was just a suggestion for similar alternatives. Guest guest
Well, we just started this week. It's also from Nordic Naturals like the ProEFA. It has 250 mg of DHA & 100 of EPA & 50 of other omega 3. She's been on it for 4 days now, so it's too soon to say. She has been very tired and actually took 2 naps yesterday. She's usually a little dynamo. I think she might be coming down with something, because that's the only time she takes naps. She actually took it from a spoon the first 2 days (it has strawberry essence in it). Then absolutely refused after that, even with bribing. So I put it in some soda (her favorite drink, unfortunately) and yesterday she drank it eagerly. I wanted to try it with her mostly for behavior and attention issues, but helping speech would be a plus since she's not where she should be for her age. She only really started talking in June. How long has your daughter been taking the ProEFA? Has it been for 3 months yet? How old is she? Mine is 3.5. Janet From: " S. Guest guest
Hi Janet, nice to hear from you. I don't think that I will try it if it makes your daughter tired. My daughter is already pretty laid back, I don't want her to turn into a zombie. She has been taking the ProEFA since Nov. 8. It has made minor improvements such as: her speech comes easier to her and her signs are better. She has some fine motor issues in her hands and it is helping that as well. She has maybe 5 more words than she had before, but some are just clearer now. I really wanted a surge, but I am still waiting. I also have started giving her 5 pills per day, and i just started that this past Monday. too soon to tell. My daughter is almost 5, and I am really starting to get nervous, because of her starting Kindergarten. I so desperately don't want her in our Special Education Program!!! I don't trust them, they will not release her when she is ready. I just don't even want to get that started!!! I think that you can wait until 7 to start kindergarten so I will, if need be. I also am looking into a private school. Thank you, >From: " Janet " <beach73@...> >Reply- >< > >Subject: [ ] Re: Difference in EFA's >Date: Fri, 21 Dec 2001 09:04:47 -0600 > > Well, we just started this week. Guest guest
Hello Sillybear! I just wanted to set the record straight. My daughter is indeed coming down with a cold (great time for that with the holidays coming), so I wouldn't blame it on the supplement right now. The timing was just bad. The motor skills are another thing I hope will improve with the supplement. It sounded pretty encouraging from what I read in the LCP Solution book and other places. She has developmental dyspraxia as referred to in the book. In the US it's called DCD (developmental coordination disorder). They had pretty much success with that group of children in the studies too. But that was with Efalex. Dr. Stordy said to start out with 240 mg a day of DHA for 3 months for under fives, then half after that. The Pro DHA has 250 mg, so I only give her one a day. I figured if she showed improvement with it, I could give it to her every other day after the 3 months or try something else. My daughter's in early childhood special ed right now, but I don't have too much of a concern about them not releasing her if she's ready. It's a good and reputable school. However, I too am hoping she can be mainstreamed by the time she's supposed to start kindergarten. Some people even have their kids go one more year if they think they aren't quite ready for kindergarten . >I am really starting to get nervous, because of her starting >Kindergarten.
