Guest guest
Lynn..its Liz from NJ.....I have had this dragon since 1972..I have found myself having a flare and kind of denying it..telling myself I'm out of shape..or whatever....then I wonder why the little old man is running rings around me at the gym...when I realize it is a real flare ( I don't get all the symptoms in logical order...sometimes I get the arthritis a month later ?? ) anywho...yea.after activity of sorts I am wasted...at times like this I try to rest..my body time and time again worked itself out of the flare ( after 6 months or more..grreat ) and when I started to exercise yes I would take a nap..but I would not feel " sick " ...we have to listen carefully to our body's...right now I am really trying to do some walking...but there are days that 7 minutes is way too much..then I will wait..and can do 15 on another day...patience is an understatement..that we have to practice more than anything...I would rest up for a week or two..then try whatever you did but in half...or more...hope this helps us all get strong!! Guest guest
Hi Lynn, I've had many years of therapy at different times with Still's and usually it was first in a whirlpool and then therapy. Occasionally if they were too aggressive with stretching I would have pain. Mostly with sciatica during the waiting period for my hip replacements. I was always told when flaring to do range of motion slowly as needed but not to having as much pain as you say. Therapy is supposed to help not hinder. I'm not saying it didn't hurt but usually didn't stay with me long after. I hope this helps in any way, Melt ----- Original Message ----- From: " Lynn Dudenhoefer " <lynndude@...> I have gone to physical therapy and > then spent several days in bed because my pain really flares up. Guest guest
Liz, your advice to Lynn is very good, you seem to have a very practical attitude about exercise. Someone a while back had a red, green, yellow light system they used to assess their vulnerability to the dragons ravages. I hope that perhaps someone can relay that idea to us again. It seems that most all of it hinges on how honest we are evaluating where our bodies actually are with the disease, lol. Maybe I am not making much sense, take care, Louise. lizdaly101@... wrote: > Lynn..its Liz from NJ.....I have had this dragon since 1972..I have found > myself having a flare and kind of denying it..telling myself I'm out of > shape..or whatever....then I wonder why the little old man is running > rings > around me at the gym...when I realize it is a real flare ( I don't get > all > the symptoms in logical order...sometimes I get the arthritis a month > later > ?? ) anywho...yea.after activity of sorts I am wasted...at times like > this I > try to rest..my body time and time again worked itself out of the flare ( > after 6 months or more..grreat ) and when I started to exercise yes I > would > take a nap..but I would not feel " sick " ...we have to listen carefully > to our > body's...right now I am really trying to do some walking...but there > are days > that 7 minutes is way too much..then I will wait..and can do 15 on > another > day...patience is an understatement..that we have to practice more than > anything...I would rest up for a week or two..then try whatever you > did but > in half...or more...hope this helps us all get strong!!
