Tamara,

I posted a note to you before another note I did (and see on the

site) so hope it shows up. But wanted to say that bipolar comes to

mind for me also regarding your son, voices included.

I know it has to be hard for him to describe and for you to figure

out these " voices " - could be bipolar, could be OCD, could be partly

his being so down on himself right now and " talking " to himself (I

do that!) or a blend of it all.

I think if they suspect bipolar, they usually address that first.

See what behaviors/symptoms remain and then diagnose/treat those.

So it may be that they will work towards bipolar and then treat any

OCD symptoms.

And if any of his symptoms appeared after meds (didn't have before

any meds) then suspect the medication as a cause.

Gotta get back to work, but take care of yourself, I know this is

hard on you, and family!

Hi Tamara,

Sometimes I feel that if thought she didn't have ocd it would just go

away. It took her close to 3 months before the lexapro really started to kick

in. She has been on it for 2 years now and had a set back in April. I really

thing her kidney stones and the pain of them had a lot to do with it. It sounds

to me like the medicine may be starting to work for . I have learned

to talk as much to about ocd and that it's nothing to be ashamed of. It

has helped. Please keep me updated. I sure am glad school's out. It makes things

a little easier for my whole family.

God Bless,

Becky

She was diagnosed with ocd at 9. She has gone through so much. From wanting

to kill herself to cutting to get rid of her pain. She does not want to

kill herself, only the thoughts that paralyze her. Two years ago she missed

60 days of school and lost 15 pounds (only 9 years old at the time) because

her fear of vomiting was so strong. She felt that if she had no food in her

stomach she would never throw-up. She also denied having ocd, too. One thing

I know is that out of pure desperation they will do or say anything to make

the ugly thoughts and feelings go away. I just wanted to let you know )

Hi Becky,

Your poor daughter. How is she doing now? Why do you think she denied

having OCD? doubts himself and everything he says these days.

I don't know if he's pretending he doesn't have OCD because he thinks his

life will go back to the way it was before, or if something else is going on

with him and he really did make up the OCD symptoms. Or, maybe the

medication is starting to work and he forgets what his thoughts were like

before. I am so confused.
