Guest guest
My boys get infections of all types year round. Summer is worse for us b/c of the cellulitis issues... more scrapes and stuff. Peace Be With You, Pattie Don't let your past dictate who you are now, but let it be a part of who you will become. _____ Thanks for your thoughts. I knew I couldn't be the only one who has a child who gets more infections in the summer. -- _____

Did he react to both? What type of reaction did he have? What he would be testing for without the vaccination is how much " memory " his body has for the bacteria serotypes. Either from a long ago vaccination or from the IVIG. IVIG provides passive antibodies though and the system would not have even thought to mount or maintain a response to them. So it would be memory of any past vaccination to the pneumococcal serotypes. _______________________________________________________________________ Ursula, was given the Pneumovax. First, he got Petachae--on his neck and back--this happened about an hour after it was given. Or should I say that's when we got home and I noticed it. Then, he started itching from his neck to his groin accompanied by a severe headache. He was also nauseous. Starting that night, he was complaining about pain in his arm. Having him complain about anything is unusual. The arm turned huge and red. His Ped said he should never have another Pneumovax shot. From what I understand, you're telling me that Bri's Pneumovax titers should not have changed from a year and a half ago?? So, if they are not tested, how is this doing us any good?? Unless puberty is kicking in and he is making antibodies?? But without Pneumovax, how would we know? One more question: this Immuno is telling us that Pneumovax and Prevnar are two completely different vaccinations. I think he is going to try to talk me into giving Bri Prevnar. Any ideas on this?? I personally think we will know how Bri is doing just by the number and type of infections he has. It has always been apparent that he has an immune deficiency.
