Guest guest
I must be as insane as you are then becuase I read every inch of it and had to laugh at the letter you wrote to the docs office. It looks like I will be finding a new doc again because I can't seem to get ahold of the one that I have had the past few months. I have made several phone calls and to no avail. The mail came and GUESS what I am dealing with now? The same bloody doctor's office from last week that sent a bill without a date of service.took me 2 hours to verify because of not having the actual date of service. Sent them the $95 payment as soon as it was verified. So today I get a freaking collection notice from their collection agency for $16.20. So I call and they say, " Oh, that balance is zero, it should never have been sent here, just throw it away, I don't know why we send you a collection notice. " There is NO date of service or reference to WHO the patient was, and I have NEVER received a bill from these people for $16.20. I paid the one for $95 that we got last week but have never seen a $16.20 bill. SO I call the office and the lady who does this doesn't work on Mondays (remember that from last Monday?) So I go through the entire menu (long and drawn out automated pres 5, no 6 now 7 and if you want to speak to a real-live person you have to pres 1,500 more numbers) So this lady pulls up 's account-ZERO balance ph's account: No one has put in our $95 payment into the computer yet... but she can't see where we had a bill for $16.20 EVER. our balance is 103 something now (each week we only pay $2.12 per shot) Haven't seen a bill for the other$8 we owe. I let this lady know that MS XXXX never called me back last week and I left TWO messages for her. I tell her that I want to verify that NOTHING has been sent to collections because the collections folks say that we owe ZERO, but if we OWE ZERO, WHY THE HECK do I have a collection notice in my mailbox for $16.20??? I honestly feel like sending them a bill for my hourly fee of oh-- $50 an hour to work this crap out. I am definitely going to have a scrapbooking spree this afternoon at www.enchantedcottagenc.com <http://www.enchantedcottagenc.com/> it isn't too far from the eye doctor and I don't drink enough. so I splurge on scrapbook crap. That I never have time to use because I am on the phone working our insurance and billing crap when I am not homeschooling or at the doctor. Boys are at recess now and I have calmed down enough that I can call to see if our insurance is a go for the appointment this afternoon. I did write a thank you to the ped-it said, " We want to thank you ALL for never having screwed anything up in the almost 6 years we have been coming to your office. After spending so much time working our billing/insurance problems for other offices, we wanted to thank you-you are the ONLY office we deal with who is PERFECT! " Signed it " The Curran Family " They know me and my sick sense of humor and will laugh--- normally I wouldn't write screwed up in a " formal " note-but seriously-THAT is exactly how I felt. I read it to hubby and he laughed. AND. I am going to make up cards and have a raffle at the end of the year. When we go into the doctor from now on, I am going to give them a card to put their name on and tell them, " If you get the claim for this visit 100% correct and I don't have to clear up any problems or issues, your name will be added to a drawing at the end f the year to win $150. Guest guest
I am going to have a second card (first one is a $150 raffle for getting it right) the second card is going to list my hourly fee if they get it wrong and I have to work to get it straightened out. Called the insurance and the eye doc still had yet to remove 's authorization-if they don't remove it, then he will not be covered when we bring him in June. June makes one year since he last saw them... is going early b/c his vision has changed. Wish me luck. I have the authorization numbers written down and will make sure they use the proper ones when they file-well, I will try to make sure they use the proper ones. it remains to be seen if they do or not. Got a bill from the ped.all correct and I called to give them the flex spending number and it was taken care of immediately. What a joy, what a joy. Guest guest
I feel your pain with the medical bills. Guest guest
If you got this far in reading-you > are as insane as I am. Thanks for listening. Patti, I am that insane because I kept reading and laughing because I am doing the same thing right now with Ana's allergist. He is in network at his office that is an hour and a half from here, but out of network for the office which is five minutes from here. So I asked for a referal, which the doctor sent. She sends it to a local company who manages our network, they approve/deny it and send it to the insurance company. Well, that is how it is supposed to work, but the insurance company never has gotten it because the local people don't think we need it for this doc, he is in network, if I want to drive the extra hour and a half, versus five minutes. They just keep failing to look at the location of the doctor on the referal, and to top it all off, this local company will not speak directly to clients/patients. They will only deal with the doctors or insurance people. So I get to harass them to harass the local people, all who play phone tag and go around and around and around..... Guest guest
Patty and everyone else dealing with insurance or doctor's office's problems. I know you use the telephone to deal with these people but don't forget to keep good written records of who you talked with, when, and what exactly they promised to do. If they don't follow through, mail the company president (doctor, office manager, etc.) a note and let them know why you are unhappy. If this is a work related insurance, the work place needs to know that you are having trouble with the insurance company and will sometimes intervene on your behalf. Also, if it gets over your head, call the Insurance Commissioner for your state and talk with them about filing a complaint. I agree that the time we spend on insurance would better be spent with our sick kiddos -- but until there's a better way -- you must stay on top of the financial end of things. And unfortunately, that's often a bigger battle than the illness. Hang in there, Patty, and keep fighting! In His service, dale
Guest guest
Apparently, map reading is not a prerequisite to working at an insurance company. I guess they all get to work in their GPS outfitted cars? Seriously-HOW do THEY survive? Ever wonder? We own stock in one of the largest manufacturers of GPS systems. So while it is bad for us in the insurance sense, perhaps it is good for us that they lack the ability to read maps--- maybe we can make some money to pay those medical bills. Ha ha ha. Yes, I have an extremely sick sense of humor.
