Guest guest
My son and I met with his teacher today to tell her about his OCD. I was soo proud of him, he wanted to go and be apart of the meeting. He was the son that two weeks ago was refusing to talk about his OCD, went into a total rage at the therapist office to where he had to hold him down for over 20 minutes. I got him MR. Worry and Up and Down the Worry Hill which made a huge breakthrough for him. Today, he very proudly told his teacher all about his fears, OCD and what he is doing to help himself. Told her how he had been studying storms and how he had imaginary monsters to help him fight this battle. This was also the first day back to school after missing 2 1/2 days due to the weather and hurricaine coming through the Carolinas. I am in awe as to how different his attitude was today vs just last week. I think the hardest part of this OCD is you never know what is coming from day to day. It really puts the stress on. I know that tomorrow he could be refusing school again and into a rage. But mom sure was proud today! Adele

I wish I could get my dd to act that way... and she's 15 yrs!!!! Kudos to your boy!!!! What a mature way to handle it. OCD is also very scary when you don't understand what's happening to you.. maybe the books helped in that way too. What was the teachers reaction/response to all that? Guest guest
Adele, well I'm actually happy and excited for him! This from a mom whose son won't talk about his OCD to others/school. (he's 17) Sounds like your son will do really well with battling this. I'll bet the teacher was impressed too! > > My son and I met with his teacher today to tell her about his OCD. Guest guest
I think being 17 is much harder to talk then 9. My son is still a little nieve to what others can say and do. Hopefully he won't get burned by opening up to people. He also told his best friends in the neighborhood last week and then later got scared they would thing he was weird. I am just hoping and praying they won't make him regret it.
