Ok - we're off for vacation this weekend. I haven't even had time to read

all the posts lately - hope I didn't miss anything really good.... anyone win

the lotto & offer to pay for all of us to go to the conference?????? :-)

Let me know if I missed that post!!

DD has been doing fine. On the 'up side', that last update to 50mg of

Prozac really seemed to make a difference for her. On the 'down side', the

therapy seems to be a complete bomb for her. I can't get her to practice or

use

the 2 " tools " she's learned so far. The doctor even suggested in the last

session that perhaps dd is just not ready to accept help - that perhaps the OCD

hasn't been SO debilitating that she's not willing to work for improvement yet.

I don't know. I suppose it's possible that the meds have provided so much

relief for her that she is slacking off of her efforts. I don't know. I

still haven't called the other doctor who offers ERP yet.... I know I need to.

We've had so many other major things come up and emotional spikes about other

stuff around here, I guess I took a break from worrying about OCD and just

moved to a different category worry. HA.

My son (non-OCDer.... but I've just GOTTA vent to someone) a Junior this

year, was just CRUSHED by his school when we were told that the credit he earned

last summer through a correspondence high school course for 11th grade social

studies (and we paid nearly $400 for) will NOT be accepted by the school --

keeping in mind that we acted under the advisement of his GUIDANCE COUNSELOR

AT THE SCHOOL. UGH. How can they do this to us/him??? After, literally,

walking out in the middle of a meeting with his current counselor a week ago

over this, we've since met with the Principal along with the head of Guidance

AND someone who heads up the home schooling division at the District office.

ZILCH... NADA... we got NOTHING from any of them. Apparently, what it all

boils down to is that no one is actually accountable for ANYTHING the

guidance counselors do or say or advise parents & students on. Nice huh?

Because

of this, my son has been told he can't take Japanese 4 or AP Computer Science

next year because he won't have room in his schedule -- he has to retake the

social studies class next year in school. (side note: the counselor who

steered us down this path is no longer in the area - she moved to Canada!!) We

have now escalated the issue to the Asst. Superintendent's office. There's a

lot more detail to the story, but I've taken enough OCD message board space

on this... sorry.

Anyway, in the middle of panicking over how to deal with this before the end

of the year (TODAY!!!) I guess dd and her OCD has just taken a backseat. As

horrifying as the situation is with school.... I must say, it's a nice break

from having OCD be in the forefront of our lives on a daily basis.

I'm not even going to try & catch up on posts when we return next weekend -

I'm just gonna delete them all & start anew. If anything REALLY good comes

up while I'm gone, if anyone thinks of it.. please forward the post to me

directly so I can read it....

THANKS & have a GREAT summer....

(This may show twice, computer having problems so I saved reply to

post again!)

Hi LT, enjoy your vacation! I know what you mean about it being

nice to have OCD *not* at the front of our worries/problems! Even

though that means we still are having problems, LOL!

Sorry about the school catastrophe! I guess a lesson to all to

check with the *state* as to what will be accepted or not! I looked

at online stuff years ago for my oldest son and checked with our

system and there was only 1 program in the state that our state

accepted though you can find so many online. takes Japanese

also, will be in Jap III this next year (senior). He's a bit

anxious over it. He's done well in it and enjoys it but says there

will be more " conversation/speaking " it next year and wonders how he

will do. -- So I won't be surprised at a spike in OCD then!
