Guest guest
Our appt went well. I really liked Dr Weinberg, he was very personable and good with the kids, and seemed like he really wants to help us figure this out and do what is in the best interest of the kids. And I didnt just write that b/c I told him I got a glowing report of him in my online group and he was so excited he said he would check it out!!LOL He really is a good dr and I think he will fit well into our family dr/ pulmo/controlling mother/ and now new ID guy team. We had more labs, retesting the immunoglobulins to see where they are right now, checking all the vaccine responses, and B and T cell function. Those should be back within the week. Depending on those, and how the kids are doing,we are looking at a definite possibility for IVIG for at least savannah and brennan, maybe donovan. I doubt Olivia, b/c she mainly just went b/c the other 3 went, and she has been having problems since asthma dx last yr. But, you never know, the labs will tell that story. IF we do the IVIG, it will be a 6 month trial, and see how the numbers go. If we see any major improvment in that time, we will continue with it. IF not, probably stop. We did decide to hold off on the T and A for Donovan for now. He says he has seen several kids who do that first, and still have chronic sinus infections. Then when they find an immune system malfunction, the IVIG really helps with that. So, I would rather wait and see for that, I really hate the thought of another surgery for this kid, if it can be avoided. He put all 4 kids on the tamiflu, and of course the pharmacy was out last night. Hopefully should be in by 2 this afternoon. Now, in addition to or maybe further progression of the flu, but he cannot swallow and his tonsils have some nasty looking giant white swollen spots. I called the dr for him and she called in antibiotic. Does anyone else here feel like managing the lives and healthcare of our chronically ill children is much like operating a small corporation?LOL Valarie mom to Olivia, asthma, allergies, GERD Savannah, asthma, food and other allergies, low Iga,IgM, and IgG and subs Donovan, asthma, allergies, low IgA, TBM, post nissen Brennan, asthma, food and other allergies, low IgG, TBLM, post nissen
