Trisha where did you get this trampoline from. I would be very interested in this for Dakota. As he too loves to run in circles and into things on purpose and I think that would be a great Sensory thing for him.

I don't know if u guys heard of the magazine abilitations. They also have a online site abilitations.com. They have al kinds of special needs products. I buy things for my daughter. She has a lot of sensory issues. They have a handwriting weight that I bought for my son to help him focus . Also my daughter has a weighted vest that we use everyday also a weighted ball. Check it out u might find somethings to help. My daughters therapy stopped when she turned three. So she has to enroll in school.They do have therapy for her but it's not one on one. I have heard of abilitations but some of the things in there are really expensive. Some are not just depends on what your getting.

Thank you for reminding me about the trampoline. I need to get one for

my 9 yo son but I need to get one that will hold his weight and has a

handle to hold onto because of his balance problems.He weighs 160 lbs.

and is already 5' 4 " tall. I looked online and several sports stores

carry them with the handle such as The Sport's Authority and Dick's

Sporting Goods for $60. Walmart carries a trampoline without the

handle for around $40 . I agree that Abilitations is expensive but it

was the only place I could purchase the platform swing that rotates

360 degress for my son. It cost me $75 for the swing and $75 for the

360 clip. I tried to find the clip at Lowes and Home Depot but

couldn't find one.I was more secure getting it from abilitations

because it had a weight bearing load of 250 lbs.Hope this info helps.

There are other sources for similar items

to what is in the catalogs.

I have seen the jogging trampolines at

Target and Walmart for $20.

At the local museum gift shop, I found the

latex spikey skull cap and gloves that are sold in the catalogs.

Especially check out science museums, they usually have sensory things

for kids and you don’t have to pay to go into the gift shop.

Our Dollar Tree has a lot of sensory

things if you get creative. Bubbles for blowing, etc. Dollar Tree

is the brand of store that seems to have the best inventories.

Our local supermarket (Farm Fresh) has a

$1 section and has colored foam soap. My son would not touch shaving

cream at OT, but would rub it all over the wall in the shower. And he

cleaned my wall.

We have played with stress balls.

Made our own stress balls with corn starch in balloons – I don’t

like the feeling of corn starch.

I have a vibrating pillow from Walgreens

drug store that my son likes to play with.

On one of these lists was a lady who makes

weighted blankets and sells them on Ebay. Ebay is a resource to be very

careful of – you don’t know the quality of what you are buying, so

something may be a very good deal or maybe not.

There are some things that I am not going

to be able to find somewhere else and am going to have to cough up the money

for the good stuff. I have before and I will again. In the

meantime, I do what I can with what I can.

Just wanted to contribute the budget side

of home OT to the conversation – that is basically where books like the

Out-Of-Synch Child Has Fun come

from. I love the abilitations catalog and have poured over it quite a few

times. My wish list is about the same as my annual salary.
