Guest guest
Dear Donna, Please note that Southwest College does offer a course in ozone therapy, using as a text my 1994 book, " The Story of Ozone " . I have sold a number of ozone generators to graduates of the college in the last couple of years. I have given permission for them to reproduce the book without charge. Best of health! Reply-oxyplus oxyplus Subject: Re: Naturopathic schools Date: Fri, 26 Mar 2004 00:06:01 EST Donna, Here is the info I have. There are only 5 accredited schools for Naturopathy, and I believe these are the 5. I don't think that any of them have distance learning. Many states do not recognize Naturopaths, but those that do, only do so from the 5 accredited and recognized schools. If your state does not yet recognize them, then it is my understanding that when they do, the degree will have to be from one of the 5 approved schools.. Education in Naturopathy A Licensed naturopathic physician (N.D.) attends a four-year graduate level naturopathic medical school and is educated in all of the same basic sciences as an M.D. but also studies holistic and nontoxic approaches to therapy with a strong emphasis on disease prevention and optimizing wellness. In addition to a standard medical curriculum, the naturopathic physician is required to complete four years of training in clinical nutrition, acupuncture, homeopathic medicine, botanical medicine, psychology, and counseling (to encourage people to make lifestyle changes in support of their personal health). A naturopathic physician takes rigorous professional board exams so that he or she may be licensed by a state or jurisdiction as a primary care general practice physician. >Bastyr University Founded in 1978 as a college of naturopathic medicine, the university has broadened its offerings to include: Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Applied Behavioral Science Exercise Science and Wellness Herbal Sciences Nutrition Psychology with a Health Concentration Spirituality, Health and Medicine (Certificate) >National College of Naturopathic Medicine Founded in 1956, National College of Naturopathic Medicine is the oldest accredited school of natural medicine in North America. As such, the College has been at the center of the profession, preserving and extending the legacy of naturopathic medicine. The profession has experienced a resurgence in the past two decades, as a health conscious public has sought alternatives to conventional medicine. >Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Health Sciences Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine is entering a new and very exciting phase of development. The tremendous work put in over the early years of the College's existence has born fruit with a beautiful campus, accreditation, and talented and committed faculty, staff and student body. These are the four cornerstones of the program at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine: Exploration of, and Strict Adherence to the Principles of Healing. >Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) offers Canada's only four-year, full-time professional program in naturopathic medicine. Upon completion of the four-year program, graduates receive a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (ND) diploma, and must pass international licensing examinations before registration is granted to practise as a naturopathic doctor. Doctors of Naturopathic Medicine are specialists in natural medicine and preventative health care, integrating scientific knowledge with traditional healing wisdom. They are health-care professionals who use safe, gentle, non-invasive therapies including clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, etc., to assist the whole person in maximizing the body's inherent self-healing capacity. >University of Bridgeport The University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine is a non-profit, co-educational professional institution which grants the Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (N.D.) degree to graduates who successfully complete four academic years of study including clinical training. The program is offered on a full-time basis with no students admitted to a part-time course of study. There are no correspondence nor distance-learning courses offered. _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your e-mail with MSN Premium. Guest guest
Thanks for this information. What I am learning is that the name " Naturopath " is actually being used by people who are not really " naturopaths " , as in the colleges listed below. They actually teach integrative medicine, which combines allopathic and alternative. They prescribe meds, etc. A true Naturopath, according to it's original definition - intended by the person who coined the phrase - is a person who is a health coach, teaching people to apply the basics of light, water, air and nutrition inorder to bring the body into homeostatis and make it invulnerable to pathogens. Even herbs are thus considered an extreme measure by a true allopath and only used when the above basics have been covered without success (not likely) or when the are so acutely ill that the body needs some help to stay on tract until the above basics have time to work. That would be the extreme purist/orthodox view. I guess there is some legal challenges brewing over the name " naturopath " as the true naturopaths do not want those who are actually integrative doctors using the name. This is my understanding. With that in mind, I actually do want to go in the direction of true or Traditional Naturopath and be a health coach. Since I fainted when I got my ears pierced, I don't see myself doing direct iv or drawing blood, or lancing boils, etc. all of which are allowable by a Naturopathic Physician (which is actually an Integrative Physician) but not allowable by a Traditional Naturopath. A traditional naturaopath degree is available through distance learning and this is what I am interested in. I don't want to open a clinic and treat patiencts. I want to open a service and coach people and teach classes. A TND degree will do that for me. And since Freibott is offereing tuition free ND training for a season, I am inclined to go with that. But I am continuing to check it out and see if what they are teaching is what I want. Otherwise, Clayton College in Alabama looks appealing. Very professional, which I know I won't get with Freibott. With Freibott I will very likely get some books and a test and not much more. But I will report more when I know more. Guest guest
Correction. The below should say Naturopath, not allopath. Re: Re: Naturopathic schools > Even herbs are thus considered an extreme measure by a true allopath \
Guest guest
Donna, I have been pondering the same for quite some time. I noticed all the schools mentioned below say " naturopathic MEDICINE " and not that they teach " Naturopathy " , that is what I usually look for. I'm a little surprised about your surprise of . I would have thought you would have known as you offer Homozon, so assume you must have spoken with Nikki before. I have the CD of the course, it actually came without too much delay. Unfortunately you need to have Microsoft " Publisher " to open it, haven't acquired that yet. The course does seem promising, would love to talk to people who have finished it as you have mentioned. Am also interested in your comments on Clayton. I hope they teach naturopathy. Ron waiting for the cutozone and sanozone... Re: Re: Naturopathic schools Thanks for this information.
