Guest guest
Kathy, I loved reading your post. And about the kids saying " stupid momma " ..lol. I also had tried the ProEFA with no noticeable results and starting really hitting and missing taking it...more misses. Was really discouraged that after one bottle of it(2 pills a day)we saw no results and reading all the great posts. She turned 3 in Sept and I put her in a 3 day a week, half day private preschool and also we had her speech therapy increased to 3x's a week. She has really started taking off! I also had started back to a more normal schedule including giving her the ProEFA regularly again. (3rd bottle by now) She has gone from saying 3 words in Sept. to several words now and lots of aproximations. Everyone seems to think it is being around the other kids in preschool but I started to realize maybe the ProEFA is really helping her now. She can't repeat all words correctly but now she at least attempts all words I tell her (most are non-understandable). I had her teacher (knows sign since that is how my daughter typically communicates) come to me the other day excited and saying that LeAnne had played with the other kids and for the first time since being there had been vocal all day making truck sounds and all the other sounds kids at play make. (she used to be totally silent, no sounds at all) And for the best news of all.....she put her first two spoken words together yesterday!! (she can sign up to 3 word sentances) A neighbor girl was over playing with my son and was playing with my daughter's baby doll. My daughter heard the baby doll " cry " and she jumped up ran down the hall hollering " my baby, my baby " . She quickly grabbed the baby from the neighbor girl and put the pacifier back in it's mouth to make her stop " crying " . The words were spoken very clearly, I can't get her to repeat it that clearly now, but in the heat of the moment she spoke very clearly. Also, last week she was totally discharged from physical therapy (had been in that since 9mth old) and down to just one day a week for OT. I also think most of her sensory issues seem to be fading away. YEAH! Just in time for winter, maybe she will actually wear her pj's and let me put a blanket on her this year. Guest guest
My son took cymbalta as a teenager. It made him kinda crazy and he took way to many risks. But he didn't have any depression haha
Guest guest
My first week on Cymbalta was pretty bad, especially the first few days. It got better after about a week. But I never got up to the full dose either. And I was glad when it came time to get off the medication. I wish you daughter the best, Barb. Guest guest
Thank you everyone for your support and input. I'm not sure which direction to take if the Cymbalta doesn't work. I guess it is just trial and error with antidepressants. I did just speak with her Dr and they are going to keep her longer to observe her on Cymbalta. I am nervous though because she was having such bad side effects on a low dose of Elavil. Just trying to stay positive and know that it will work out.
