The only exception, I think, is kids. They can't advocate for themselves. When I was a pre-teen and teen, I couldn't say to the doctors, dentists, orthodontists, gyencologist, and my parents: 1) My teeth are fine, I don't need braces in order to have absolutely perfect movie star teeth and prove that we're as good as others in this highfalutin town (braces I now understand can damage the jaw and roots, leading later in life to more root infections) 2) I don't want those silver/mercury fillings (I remember actually thinking that! At about age 14, whenb my braces came off and I had a ton of cavities from a high sugar diet and very lazy toothbrushing, I wanted white fillings, but I knew my mother would protest the cost) 3) I don't need my periods induced with 3 months of hormones. I'll go see a homeopath and a naturopath, if I don't get periods by age 18 (I was only 15 then). I didn't of course know what a homeopath and a naturopath were 4) I don't need antibiotics, cough medicine, other medicines, asthma medicines, for my dog allergies. You need to get rid of the dog. 5) I don't need cortisone for my gut problems, you need to take me off wheat and sugar, thank you very much. Remember, my aunt had celiac disease? I may not have celiac disease but I am sensitive to wheat... 6) Why are we eating greens from cans, wonder bread, hamburger helper, macaroni and cheese, tuna from cans, and iceberg lettuce when we live in one of the nicest, highest income towns in the state? Kids can't advocate for themselves, and are set up for all the crapola!! Guest guest
I agree with you to a point Jill. Yes as kids we have little say in some things in our lives and have things done to us that we can't change. However, there comes a time when we reach adulthood and in my mind, part of that transition is saying " ok that was my childhood, my parents did their best and I can't change it, but I am an adult now and I can chose to change the way it affects me today " . And then you get on with changing what you can. I didn't want 15 amalgam fillings in my mouth either, I had no choice. Now I am an adult, I can chose to have them removed and heal myself or not, but if they stay in my mouth and cause me health problems that is no longer my parents fault. So I hope that the parents today are better informed in somethings, but there will always be a progression and today giving our kids X is good and healthy and tomorrow we will know that isn't true. Can we be blamed for the possible health issues that our kids might have? No all we can do is our best with the best of intentions and teach our kids that as they reach adulthood, they are then responsible for their decisions. Guest guest
Dear Jill, You are correct. Kids only know what they are taught: from parents, from peers, from school, from TV, from books, etc. I was not referring to kids in my post. I was referring to adults, that is, people above the age of majority (which varies from 18 - 21, depending on where you are). So by age 21, you are 100% responsible for all your actions any place on the planet. And it is your responsibility to discover the truth about the world, and your body, and take the appropriate measures to ensure health and wealth and happiness. These things are no one else's responsibility, after age 21. Only yours. Not parents', not governments', not churches'; all responsibility is yours. For me, the most important thing written in any religious book, anywhere, in all time is : God helps those who help themselves. If you don't help yourself, why would anyone else? Even God won't, apparently. So, once you have accepted that responsibility, the next step is to draw up a set of goals, and then devise an action plan towards accomplishing those goals. If you set your health as a top priority (and what else is higher?) then you are going to need to allocate a substantial chunk of the hours in each day towards achieving that goal of enhanced health. We never get more or less than 24 hours each day, no matter how good or bad we are, so we have to learn to manage those hours to accomplish our priorities. I see this as a crucial part of the healing journey: the willingness to put in the time and effort required to regain health. Most people are looking for a quick fix. That means that they value their health so little that they are not willing to spend much time on it. And yet, if they were to take the time to do a proper job of really deep cleansing, they would discover that they have created more time at the end of the process, because they have regained the energy that made them efficient at accomplishing daily tasks, which now drag them down in the mud. For my wife, Sherri-Lee, at the worst point of her illness, showering and drying her hair exhausted her so much that she had to go and have a nap. You can imagine how much else she was able to do. But, by making health her priority, and spending many hourse every day cleansing her body, now she can run a household, look after the incessant needs of a 3 year old, run an ozone sauna clinic and help other people to do what she did, grow a new baby in her womb, answer dozens of emails every day, read books, plan trips for the weddings of relatives, hire people to paint the house, garden in her little plot so that her family has fresh vegetables, and much more. So, she has miraculously expanded the time in her life. It IS a miracle, but it is just the fulfillment of the potential that was always there. That fulfillment became possible when she established her priorities. Without that, she would still be lying exhausted on her bed after doing her hair, and she would never have had the energy to answer the phone, and she wouldn't have met me, and subsequently got married, had a child, with another on the way. So her whole life (restored) is traceable back to the moment when she got her priorities straight, stopped blindly believing what she had been taught as a child, and started finding her own truth. Guest guest
Sherri, you might be misinterpreting me a bit. Yeah, you take the amalgams out (which I did in my 20's). But it is highly unfortunate how many kids have iatrogenic illness because they are messed with by doctors and unsuspecting parents. Kids are vulnerable (as for instance, rising cases of autism show). A healthy lifestyle, organic foods, trying to trust the body's own healing capacity rather than loading it with drugs, etc...if you give your kids that, the mistakes will be very few. Guest guest
Nicely put, Saul. I think it helps me too when I worry about others, to realize, God helps those who help themselves. I guess if somebody really wants to use my chamber or sauna, they will come to me, from a place of really wanting healing. That's not the kind of person who will sue. That's different than me seeing people who could be benefitted by it, and wondering if/how I should reach out to them. Still, sometimes I get mad at this pharma-happy (i.e. capitalism instead of good medicine) society.
Guest guest
Jill, I am not misunderstanding you at all. However, sadly the conventional medical system still exists and is the ruling body. So what are our choices? Parents do the best they can with what they have at the time. Today that includes, being much more aware of the corruption that is the medical system and yet I am shocked at the number of people who still blindly follow that path. Vaccinate hours old infants, feed pablum (doctors still recommend this you know) and stuff in day care. I can't change what they do. I feel bad for the kids, and I hope that when they get older, they learn to stop being the sheep their parents taught them to be and see the truth. But I can't make them and if they continue to be sheep, then no one is to blame for that. That is free choice. It is highly unfortunate that doctors cut out bits of peoples body as a treatment for anything. It is highly unfortunate that they burn, slash and maim in the name of treating cancer. It is highly unfortunate that they reject all alternatives, especcially ozone (which was mainstream medicine until the 1930's) simply for profit. But what are we to do? Educate people about the truths, have the courage of our convictions even in the face of law suits and other things and do what is right. And first and foremost set a good example simply by following our own advice. Slowly but surely we will bring about change. Guest guest
And I will just add to that, that the first step in this process is challenging everything I believed in about the medical system. I was your typical kid of the 60's. My parents knew no better and really now my mom doesn't want to know and I challenge her daily by asking her to question what her doctor has said. And you know what her response is? " How can you think you know more about X than a doctor? " Anyway they did their best, when I had a sore throat she took me to a doctor and he gave me antibiotics.. over and over and over. Got so I wouldn't tell her when I had a sore throat. When I had horrible headaches as a teen, she took me to a doctor who sent me to a specialist, who after about 20 minutes with me, said I was making it all up for attention. She believed it and the pain that reduced me to bed at least monthly was no longer an illness but something in my head. I continued this lesson in later life... sick? Doctor... sick doctor... over and over. Then I developed my swollen foot. I saw my doctor, she had no idea, sent me to a rheumatologist, who over the 6 months misdiagnosed me over and over, each time including the next drug that was sure to help. Finally she put me on prednisone. I took two pills and ended up in the hospital. I had a heart rate of 38 and couldn't breath. A night of IV adrenaline restored my heart rate to the low 60's, they kicked me from the hospital saying it must have been a toxic load of drugs given all the meds I had been on in the last few months. And that was it. go home and be a good sheep and continue to do what we tell you, because we haven't quite killed you yet. I went home and threw out every prescription medication I had and have not taken another one since then, that was 11 years ago or so. I knew nothing about " alternative " therapies.. wasted some money on scams, learned a lot, went to a few quacks but I took control of my health and responsibility for my care. If I believed that prescription drugs caused my illness then I couldn't in good faith continue to take them could I? That would be hypocrytical in my mind. If I believed that doctors knew nothing but prescribing drugs that caused my illness and really didn't care about me then how could I continue to see them? More hypocrisy. I don't believe there can be " complimentary " medicine. Conventional medicine doesn't want a partner, you can't a have a monopoly with a partner. You have to consider others views and be opened minded. Not what conventional medicine wants. They want to run everything. This whole move to " accept " alternative medicine is a bunch of bull... I don't need the conventional systems stamp of approval to know what is right. They want to " partner " up and give lip service to complimentary medicine, so they can enforce complete control over the alternative modality. It happens all the time. In my first field, therapeutic recreation we got it. Want to get out of the blue colour union and into the professional union, toe the line, follow these rules, yes they are more conventional than honouring the truth of your field but do it or don't get what you want. With midwives in BC, want priviledges in our hospitals? Want doctors to support you? Ok.. well now birth at home is only safe before 40 weeks, if you have a client going longer you have to send her to an OB to discuss induction or you will loose your priviledges. It becomes all about how much the " alternative " therapy is willing to give up and sacrifice of it's morals and ethics at the alter of the white coated God in order to get his approval and license. Well I hope that the medical system keeps going the way it is. I hope we privatize in Canada. I hope that people keep seeing how much this crap costs, maybe then they will use their consumer dollars to exact some control over their health. Maybe one day the system will fall apart because of frivolous law suits and high malpractice insurance and we can then open the doors to true healing. I strongly believe that you can not achieve true health if you are trying to sit on the fence and dangle your toes in both conventional and alternative medicine. They do not work together but put apart. Conventional makes sick and strips the natural resources of the body causing havoc where ever it goes. Alternative respects the inate natural ability of the body to heal itself. Guest guest
Hi I think self responsibilty is definately true to a point but I also think that even adults will often find it extemely difficult and time consuming to get a decent education about health matters. There is so much conflicting info out there about the various diets and treatments available and stories of people being harmed by various treatments that it is hard to know what is true and what is not true. The propoganda put out by the medical orthodoxy is very persuasive and often very frightening. We are generally bought up not to question authority - how much free will does each of us actually have?? It often takes a serious illness for people to realise that the medical orthodoxy is not always right and then to embark on a quest for the truth about health matters. They often don't realise that the mild health problems they had before they were ill were warning signs. They are surrounded by family and friends who have similar minor health problems. They therefore believe that these minor nagging complaints are normal for their age. In such a world it is often hard to even know what healthy really is Also one may well find out what is an effective treatment but may not be able to afford it since most effective treatments such as ozone are only available privately or require the purchase of expensive equipment. I am lucky that my partner is able to get credit because I am too ill to work. I have several very sick friends who are on disability and who could never afford this expense. I agree it is not expensive equipment when compared to other treatments and will definately save you money in the long run but you have to have the money in the first place to buy it. In addition for those in the UK national insurance contributions towards our national health service are mandatory. After paying these there is not always the money left over to spend on alternative health treatments/equipment. > > Dennis > > > wrote: > > >Hi > > > >I think self responsibilty is definately true to a point but I also think > >that even adults will often find it extemely difficult and time consuming to > >get a decent education about health matters. Guest guest
Hi , I can really feel for you, I understand what you are saying. It is definately an investment in your life. It is a lot of money, no one is saying otherwise. This is one of the reasons I would like to see the current system we have go under. Right now, people pay their premiums (usually a fraction of the real cost of health care) and then when they get sick they have a choice, use the system they are paying for monthly and many rationalise now that " it is free " or going the alternative route which is so much more expensive. The choice is simple if money is tight. I know for a fact that I would never have been able to afford a set up had I not met Saul. I just was not that liquid and didn't have credit to do it. I also didn't really value health as much as I thought I did, simply because I didn't really know what it looked like. I thought it was merely the absense of symptoms (which is what allopathy offers) but know I now so much more. So how do we get people to understand what health is when they have never experienced it? Hard to do. One thing I do is offer very low rate sauna sessions for people who are on limited income. I think it is important they pay something as they have to make their own investment in their health, and people tend to dismiss things that are free as having little or no value, but I do give a lot of leeway on this. As they start to heal their appreciation for what they are getting increases. Soon they know they wouldn't want to live without it no matter the cost. I think it is a crime that monthly premiums for conventional medicine are mandatory. We don't use this system ever. And the things we do use (naturopathy, chiro, accupuncture etc) are not covered. Things are just upside down right now. Thank goodness you have people who can and will help you. With time, you will be able to resume a normal work life and be well and healthy again and that will speak volumes to the next person who says to you " I can't afford it " . Guest guest
Hi again , Again I agree with you. What you say is very true. It is no way abdicates self responsibility. " We were raised to be sheep and not question authority " doesn't dismiss the fact that you do have self responsibility. " Every one else feels this way, so it must be normal " is not an excuse for not being responsible. Recognising that we have little free will does not excuse people from being responsible to themselves for their decisions. In the long run, at the end of the day we are responsible to ourselves first and foremost and we are the ones who will suffer from the consequences of our decisions. If that is missing a kidney because we allowed a surgeon to cut it out of us, that is our responsibility. If it is health because we went into debt buying ozone equipment, that too is our responsibility. This is a hard topic, because not only are you right about how we were raised, but this society does not encourage us to take responsibility for ourselves at all. I hope that is changing slowly, Sherri-Lee Looking for safe and natural health products? http://www.aloeessence.com Re: Self-responsibility > > > > > Dear Jill, > > > > So this brings the discussion around to my favorite topic: > > self-responsibility. > > > You are 100% right Saul. Guest guest
Hi Jill, I think sometimes we have to forget about helping others and just focus on helping ourselves first. The other will come when we are ready for it. Perhaps one of the reasons people aren't taking you up on your kind offer is because the " universe " wants to see you have the time in the unit first, experience your healing and then others will come just because of the walking success they will see in you. That is the best testiment. Believe me, once you are walking around all healed, you will have people asking to come use the sauna. It happens in my business daily. How is it going for you btw... are you saunaing regularly now? any effects? Keep us posted on your journey, Sherri-Lee Looking for safe and natural health products? http://www.aloeessence.com Re: Self-responsibility Nicely put, Saul. Guest guest
Dear , The fact that it is hard to get good information does not change a person's responsibility to pursue it. It just makes it a longer effort than it would be if it were handed to you as part of your education. Sadly, modern health education has deteriorated a great deal in the schools in the last 40 years. The focus these days is on lies about AIDS and how to avoid STDs and pregnancy. Nutrition in school cafeterias is a joke. Coke and Pepsi are kings in the hallways. When I wrote my second book, " The Owner's Manual for the Human Body " , the basic idea was to provide the information you would need in a simple format, so that people would not have to hunt it down for themselves. One day, perhaps, they will use the book as a school text and then the job will become a bit simpler. Best of health! Dr. Saul Pressman --------------------------------------------------------------------------------\ ----------------------- ----Original Message Follows---- From: " " <johnml@...> Reply-oxyplus <oxyplus > Subject: Re: Re: Self-responsibility Date: Sun, 28 Mar 2004 04:01:42 +0100 Hi I think self responsibilty is definately true to a point but I also think that even adults will often find it extemely difficult and time consuming to get a decent education about health matters.
Guest guest
HI Sherri-Lee, thx for asking, also it's nice having you contribute on this list and I'm glad you joined. I am still trying to figure out how to jockey my article-writing with a full-scale healing program. I can't do it at this point. For instance, I currently have a writing assignment that is probably the hardest I've ever had--not complaining about that, but it is putting so much pressure on me and I'm putting so much pressure on myself, I can't afford to do anything except work as best I can and do some hyperbaric. I do, however, have a book proposal in the offing with a wonderful co- author, and an agent who is very enthused about it. I have to do one more revision and then likely just some touchups and I suspect sometime in May it will go to publishers. I have been on the other side of the desk so I know that even if it goes out in May, and even if it gets a decent/good advance, I won't see that first payout for a few months. However it will give me the psychological breathing room to say, Okay, I can just drop article writing for a few months and really go fullscale on the ozone even if I get utterly wiped out. So I'm hoping the universe will agree to manifest this. I know the proposal is good so I'm fairly confident it will work out in some manner. Until then, after this deadline on Wednesday I can resume a slower protocol but I have to do that liver flush first. My plan is to resume starting a 2x week for saunas, but daily vaginal insufflation for short times that I slowly build up as I see my tolerance, and do a liver flush as soon as my deadline and taxes are over. I think I am in a different position than many, or so Saul said. I'm still self-supporting in spite of being SLYMED (lyme) but its very difficult. Others are on disability or have spouses or families so they can devote it full time. But I'm not complaining. I love my work. I am also grateful to Saul for making this all possible. > How is it going for you btw... are you saunaing regularly now? any effects? I'm a good researcher but I doubt I could've found all this 10 years ago--these groups, this pooled knowledge, is such a great resource. Guest guest
Jill, The hardest thing is healing. It is way harder to do than getting sick. It is only made harder if we have to work and maintain our own home etc. I was so lucky to meet Saul who said " stop working and just get yourself really well " but not everyone has that sort of gift come to them. So you do what you can and plug through and do the best you can. Every bit of healing counts, Sherri-Lee Looking for safe and natural health products? http://www.aloeessence.com Re: Self-responsibility > > > Nicely put, Saul. > > I think it helps me too when I worry about others, to realize, God > helps those who help themselves.
