My 14 has started getting attitude, about hte same time his voice began slipping...he's got less patience for sensory issues, needs more audio stim, etc, But, he's also finding "geeky" peers, (and I use that word, only because he & may other aspies embrace that trait about themselves.) So his self esteem is high, and he's got a social life (I don't understand it, but it's there & makes him happy)joy <joycrosby@...> wrote: i have a recently turned 13 year old son diagnosed with aspergers. its hard to

Someone should really write a book on this! Mine is 14, and we are going through the same thing. It is subsiding a bit. We really have to drill him to tell the difference.

yes! and it seems like its " clogging " up the focused parts. have

you ever tried the glutin diet? i am afraid with the picky appetite

and the effects of concerta he is on, it would not fly. i do give

him fish oils and flaxseed and he even says they help.

My 13 year old aspie has found him self

some similar friends this year, one looks like a mini Napoleon Dynamite lol.

It has definately done wonders for his self esteem but we’re starting

here with the attitude too! Gotta love hormones!

We tried the GF diet and since he was such

a limited eater anyway he wouldn’t touch the new food and lived strictly

on green apples and ham until I stopped the diet lol

Had to comment on this one. Miss Molly was REALLY bad for the first couple of years - remembering that she underwent Lupron therapy for precocious therapy and was getting ready to start her period in the first grade - but we had a real rough 5th 6th and 8th grade. She is now in 9th and is finally finding peace within herself.... Joy~

I can sympathize. My son was diagnosed at 4.5 yrs, and at the time I

remember other moms telling me that just when they got things on an

even keel, puberty hit, and it was like starting all over again. Now

that my son is 13, I can definitely see what they meant. I just try

to take one day at a time. Fortunately, most days are good ones!

Jen,

My son is on Testosterone therapy for a

rare Genetic disorder, so I know all to well the fun hormone therapy can add to

this whole mix! He started the injections at 11 (he’s now 13) He will

be on the therapy his whole life but the dose is being gradually increased

right now to induce puberty. FUN! The noticed with the AS they cant

give him on big dose a month or he is a disaster, they have to split it up into

2 smaller doses twice a month.
